RULES AND PRINCIPLE ELEMENTS

PERIOD OF COMPETITION

  • The NSW GBOTA Members Greyhound of the Year Competitions (MGOTY) will commence on the January 1steach year and conclude on December 31st each year.

ALLOCATION OF POINTS

  • A tiered Points Score System has been adopted for the MGOTY Competitions
  • The Point score system has been designed to reward superior performance. A points value has been allocated for each placed performance, relative to the divisional classification that GRNSW determines shall apply to the individual greyhound racing club, which conducted the meeting.
  • The MGOTY Competition classifies clubs in the following divisions:

City Clubs (Metropolitan) / Category A
Tab Provincial Club Meeting / Category B
Tab C Meetings / Category C
Country Clubs (conducting non-TAB Meetings) / Category D
  • Should GRNSW determine to re-classify any club, any performance occurring after the effective date of such change, will be allocated the points value which applies to the new classification for that club.
  • The system will only allocate points to greyhounds thatare placed 1st, 2ndor 3rd including dead heats, in official races at tracks in any state or territory of Australia.
  • No points will be awarded for performances in Performance or Qualifying Trials.

POINTS SCORE TABLE - STANDARD RACE PROGRAMMING

  • The following Points table will apply to performances in all Maiden and Graded races during the period of the MGOTY Competitions.

Category A – City Clubs (Metropolitan Meetingsb Classification / 125s225t / 210nd / 5d
Category B – Provincial Clubs (TAB Meetings) / 10 / 5 / 3
Category C- Tab C Meetings / 7 / 4 / 2
CategoryD – Country Clubs (non-TAB Meetings) / 5 / 2 / 1

GROUP RACES

  • Only those races or race series which are included in the AGRA Group Race Calendar will be recognised as feature races.
  • Performances by greyhounds in heats or semi-finals of a Group 1, 2, 3 or Listed race or series will be allocated the same points value as performances which are achieved in maiden or graded races. Refer to abovementioned table
  • Placegetters in the final only of any Group 1, 2, 3 or Listedraces will be allocated total points for that performance in accordance with the following table.
  • Group and Listed race performances must be lodged on the same submission form (C).

TABULATION OF POINTS SCORES

  • All points submitted for greyhounds, including those acquired in the finals of Group 1, 2, 3 and Listed events will be accredited to the respective club classification category (either Metropolitan, Provincial, Tab C and Country TAB, Country non-TAB) at which they were achieved.
  • The Country MGOTY competition will only include points from the standard race point score table. Points from country group races will be added to the overall MGOTY competition.
  • The cumulative total of all categories shall represent the greyhounds point score total in the MGOTY Competition.

PERFORMANCE SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

  • Members will be required to complete a Members Submission Form (FORM C) for their greyhound(s) on each occasion they wish to submit performances.

No greyhound will be considered for the competition unless a FORM C is received for that greyhound by theMGOTY point score captain by the December 7th of the current year

Members are not required to send any performances after December 1st in any year.

These points will be captured automatically by the MGOTY Committee.

Members are also reminded that points should NOT BE SENT TO HEAD OFFICEinstead

Should make it to theMGOTY point score captain by December 1st no later.

MGOTY PRIZES (see Additional Notes) (I)

  • Following the completion of the competition and announcement of the winners the following prizes will be awarded:

RULES TO NOTE:

Rule 1:

Members must accrue a minimum of five (5) branchmeeting attendances in the competition year for their greyhounds to be eligible for consideration in any of the contests.

Rule 2:

The Committee recognizes that some branches conduct their competitions over varying periods. The different competition managed by the committee commences on January 1st and concludes on December 31st in every year.

Rule 3:

Interstate and ACT performances will be accepted provided that at all times the greyhounds are officially domiciled in NSW. Written proof of performances may be required.

Rule 4:

Members’ greyhound(s) may earn points from interstate wins andplacings, however the greyhound(s) must return to NSW after competing. The intent and spirit of the rule is clear.When a members’ greyhound(s) is officially transferredto the kennels of a trainer based outside NSW, the Committeedeems that the said greyhound is no longer domiciled in NSW and points earned whilst in the care of the interstate trainer are not eligible for any competitions which are managed by the Committee.

Rule 5:

The Committee may request a Director to inspect any records relatingto branch meeting attendances and any other records pertaining to the various contests.

Rule 6:

The NSW GBOTA Members Greyhound of the Year Committee shall beresponsible for the administration of the MGOTY competition,including the determination of what awards, if any, are presented and thelevel of any material or other remuneration, which may be given,as a consequence.

Rule 7:

No greyhound will be considered for the competition unless a FORM C is received for that greyhound by the M.G.O.T.Y point score captain by December 7th of the current year.

The branch point score captain or secretary will only need to submit points for the member’s greyhound on one occasion.

Branch point score captains or secretary’s will not be required to forward points for any performances for that greyhound as those points will then be captured by the M.G.O.T.Y committee.

Rule 8:

If both Owner & Trainer of the greyhound have submitted points through their respective branches in the M.G.O.T.Y. competition the award will be presented to the Owner & Trainer of the greyhound as long as the member meets the requirements of the M.G.O.T.Y. committee.

Rule 9:

In the case of the Branch Award, if the owner/s and trainer are members of different branches the money will be divided evenly between the branches.

Rule 10:

Points will be accepted via email or by post as long as they make it to theMGOTY point score captain NOT THE ASSCOATION HEAD OFFICE by December 1st no later

Rule 11:

If points are sent by email, they must be sent in a manner in which they can be easily opened (i.e. word or pdf document) and when opened be legible.

Rule 12:

Group Race and Listed performance must be lodged on the same submission form (C)

Rule 13

Members should note that when entering information on Form C that in all categories wins and placings are to be written, NOT points earned

Rule 14

The MGOTY committee feel that it is the member’s responsibility to attend their branch meetings and communicate with their point score captain or secretary to ensure that their greyhound has been nominated into the current year’s competition.

The Committee's decision is FINAL and no correspondence will be entered into.
