Report

With just one match left to play East Anglia are now within touching distance of the Norfolk SRA League Division One title following their two victories this week, 18-5 against Bannatyne’s and, despite being one player short, 14-6 against Broadland. In the Bannatyne’s match Gary Snelling, John Cordeaux and David Youngs all won their matches 3-0 while Steve Mooney beat Paul Bradnock 10-8 in the fifth. Jordan Creed who beat Ashley Briggs 3-1 was the one Bannatyne’s winner. Cordeaux, Briggs and Snelling all won in straight games against Broadland while David Youngs injured himself in the first game but went through the motions, losing to Ian Cox 3-9 1-9 0-9!

Second met third at Potters where the home team beat Barnham Broom 16-7 with Jamie Goodrich and David Hall both winning 3-0 against Matthew Bolt and Jonathan Pearson respectively while Rob Hambrook beat Sam Hales 3-1. For Barnham Vince Somers won 3-2 against Andy Wright while Simon Howling had a straight game victory over Paul Field.

At the other end of the table Oasis won for only the second time this season, coming out on top 15-7 at King’s Lynn. Alan Jermany and Ali Ponder both won their matches 3-0 while Paul Atterton beat Peter Scott 10-8 9-7 9-10 10-9. For Lynn Mark Bobbins won 3-0 and Andrew Trim beat Mark Thomas 3-1. East Anglia IV have returned to the bottom of the table following their 18-4 defeat at home to Diss. Alex Williams who beat Jack Bell 3-1 was their one winner but for Diss Paul Goodchild won 3-1 and Adam Gretton, Dan Calver and Neil Cross all won their matches in straight games.

East Anglia II won their mid table match against Broadland 15-8 with Paul Gretton and Andrew Woods winning 3-1 and Nigel Gillick beating Matthew Hawkes in straight games. Steve Moxey and Ian Cox were Broadland’s two winners.

In Division Two top of the table North Norfolk had a convincing 20-1 maximum at home to bottom of the table Potters II with Dev Mahatme winning 3-1 and Kevin Blake, Martin Pearse, Tim Perry and Martin Guppy all winning in straight games. The Potters team did win their first match of the season as they beat Broadland II 18-9 with Richard Soanes winning 3-0, Graham Fackman 3-1 and Darren Green beating Paul Banham 3-2. For Broadland Mark Woolnett and Justin Millar both won their matches 3-2.

It was not a good week for the Broadland team who were forced to concede their match at Fakenham as they were unable to raise a team. These twenty fortuitous points boosted Fakenham’s chances of avoiding relegation especially as Bannatyne’s II lost 16-7 to Barnham Broom III. Stuart Sutton and

Wesley Hicks both won their matches 3-0 while Neil Sutton won 3-1. For Bannatyne’s Alex Ingham won in straight games and Martin Browne won 3-2.

North Walsham won the local derby against Cromer coming out on top 18-5 with Andre Midlane and Matt Sumner both winning 3-1 and James Gair and Roger Hannant winning in straight games. Steve Watts who beat Rob Whiting 3-1 was the one Cromer winner.

In the only Division Three match played bottom of the table Oasis II came close to winning at Cromer but the home side eventually won 15-9 with Kim Payne, John Chandler and Steve Watts all winning their matches 3-1. For Oasis Richard Hall also won 3-1 while Terry Mayes beat Martin Sanville 3-0
