USHER (for Cinderella 2017/18)
JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible to: Theatre Manager, House Manager and Duty Manager
Purpose of Post:
· To provide a welcoming, accessible and efficient service to patrons.
· To ensure the safety and well-being of patrons whilst at Nottingham Playhouse.
· To sell Nottingham Playhouse merchandise.
DUTIES include:
Customer Service
· To actively welcome patrons to Nottingham Playhouse shows and events.
· To provide information for patrons, answering queries efficiently and directing as necessary.
· To provide assistance for patrons with access requirements.
· To pro-actively sell programmes and other foyer sales such as confectionary, drinks and merchandise and account for those sales.
· To operate the Nottingham Playhouse customer service policies relating to audiences for performances/events.
Health and Safety
· To take appropriate action in the event of fire or other emergency.
· To take appropriate action to ensure that the conditions of the Premises Licence regarding passageways, doors, smoking, lighting, seated audiences, licensed bars etc are fulfilled.
· To take appropriate action to ensure that any Health & Safety regulations are not contravened.
· To alert the Duty Manager to any possible hazard or deficiency.
· To maintain the cleanliness and presentation of public areas during performances.
Other
· To take appropriate action to ensure that copyright laws are not contravened by unauthorised sound/visual recording of any part of a performance.
· To take appropriate action with regard to the use of mobile phones, etc, in the auditorium.
· To liaise with Playhouse Bar & Kitchen restaurant/bar as necessary.
· To liaise with other departments as necessary.
General
· To always act in the best interests of Nottingham Playhouse.
· To take positive action to promote Equal Opportunities in all aspects of the work of Nottingham Playhouse.
· To agree to abide by Nottingham Playhouse policies such as Health & Safety, child protection etc.
· To maintain confidentiality in all areas relating to Nottingham Playhouse.
· To maximise income and minimise expenditure wherever possible.
· To carry out such other duties as may be reasonably expected of the post.
