Middle School Dance Guidelines

Seventh and eighth grade students from the Green Bay – De Pere area Catholic schools are invited to attend Notre Dame Academy’s middle school dances throughout the school year. Dances are chaperoned by parents from participating Catholic elementary/middle schools. Dances are held on Fridays; they begin at 6:30 p.m. and end promptly at 9:00 p.m. All students must arrive at the dance by 7:00 p.m. as the doors will be locked at that time. Also, students may not re-enter after leaving the dance.

Admission is $5 per student. Seventh and eighth grade students only.

Non-Catholic grade school students and guests are allowed only if they presenta principal-authorized guest pass or a guest pass from NDA.

NDA’s dress code must be respected. Therefore:

Pants must be worn at the waistline and cover all underwear (boys and girls).

Midriff and shoulders must be covered; thus, no tank tops, spaghetti straps, strapless tops, crop tops, etc. allowed. All underwear (including bra straps) must be covered.

Shorts and skirt length must be no higher than 3 inches below fingertips while student is standing upright with arms at the side.

Shoes must be worn.

Students who do not follow the dress code will be asked to call home and arrange for a wardrobe change.

When students arrive at the dance, they must enter and stay inside until the dance is over or until their parent comes inside to pick them up.

There will be no promiscuous or provocative dancing. All dance moves should be done with dignity and self-respect. Therefore:

Students are not allowed to bunch up in tightly packed groups.

No moshing, slam dancing, or pushing into each other.

During slow dances, students must “make room” for Jesus. No kissing, groping, etc. Students must show respect to their dance partner and all others around them.

Basketball hoops are off limits.

No climbing on or under bleachers.

No running or rough-housing allowed.

Vending machines with food are available in the commons, but food must be consumed there. This privilege will be lost if students do not clean up after themselves.

No food or drink allowed in the gym.

Students are allowed to be in the old gym, commons, or adjacent bathrooms. The rest of school is off-limits.

Students must be picked up at NDA by 9:00 p.m. sharp.

Students are expected to comply with these guidelines and the directions of the chaperones.

Violators will be given one warning. Repeat offenders may be asked to call their parents for an early ride home.
