Notes for recruiting departments - LAST UPDATED June 2017

These notes are to provide recruiting managers with further guidance on completing the About The Job (ATJ) template.

If you require any further assistance in putting your ATJ together please contact your customary HR adviser.

Once completed don’t forget to provide the appointee with a copy of the ATJ as part of their induction. This document will form the foundation of the induction process and future review of the appointee’s development

Person Specification

§  The criteria set within the person specification will form the basis on which you must measure all applicants and their suitability to undertake the post. §  For Professional service roles please use the Sheffield Professional framework to inform the skills required for the post.

§  Please number all the criteria. This will then help you when shortlisting as it will be used to refer to the criteria within the online notes section via e-Recruitment.

§  Please use an ‘X’ to mark criteria as essential or desirable, as other icons may not be viewed by some Apple users]
