Problem:

While accessing the Symantec Backup Exec plug-in for Kaseya report from ‘Symantec Backup Exec > Reports’ tab, the following error message may appear:

For security reasons DTD is prohibited in this XML document. To enable DTD processing set the ProhibitDtd property on XmlReaderSettings to false and pass the settings into XmlReader.Create method.

Symptom:

For your reference, a screenshot that shows the error message is given below:

Possible Cause(s):

The reason could be that the SQL Services Reporting Server (SSRS) seems not correctly configured. Below are the steps that will help to correctly setup the report server.

Possible Resolution(s):

Step-1: Refresh/reconfigure the report server configurations

Note: The below steps apply only if there is no other application uses the report server/SSRS. If you had other applications already using SSRS/report server and some of the settings had been already customized, then you have to customize the below steps according to the custom settings that are in use (i.e. name of the virtual directory etc).

1. First check whether the report server URL is accessible using IE browser. (URL to run: ). Assuming that it currently does not work in your setup, that’s why you’re getting this error.

  • Ensure that you replace the part of the URL shown above with the proper machine name or IP address.

2. Open Internet Information Services (IIS) window (or “IIS Manager” in Windows 2008 machines) from “Administrative Tools” and expand the “web Sites” (or “Sites” in Windows 2008 machines) folder.

  • You may already have ‘ReportServer’ and ‘ReportManager’ web sites/virtual directories listed under the “Web Sites” folder.
  • Leave this IIS window open.

3. Go to SQL Server’s “Reporting Services Configuration” Wizard (from Start > Programs > Microsoft SQL Server > Configuration Tools menu). Refer the “Configure Report Server” screenshot shown below.

  • Just go from one tabbed option to another in order (Refer the tabs in left-side).

4. When you are in “Report Server Virtual Dir” wizard:

  • Delete ‘ReportServer’ virtual directory using IIS windows manually and then immediately click “New…” button in the below Report Server Vir. Dir Setting wizard page. Click ‘Apply’ as required.

5. When you are in “Report Manager Virtual Dir” wizard:

  • Delete ‘ReportManager’ virtual directory using IIS windows manually and then immediately click “New…” button in the below Report Manager Vir. Dir Setting wizard page. Click ‘Apply’ as required

6. All other wizard pages, leave all in default setting and click ‘Apply’

7. Ensure you have ‘GREEN tick’ for most of the configuration sections as shown in the below screen.

8. Now run ReportServer-machineName-or-IP-or-Localhost>/Reports from IE browser.

9. You should be able to see page loading properly (with no error)

10. Login to Kaseya web console and try to generate a plug-in’s report from within “Backup Exec” plug-in’s “Reports” UI. Now, you should be able to see reports are rendering successfully in UI. If the issue still persists, follow the below steps.

If the issue still persists, follow the below steps 2 and 3 and then re-login to Kaseya console to view the reports.

Step-2: Ensure credential to access reports (i.e. SSRS) is setup correctly.

Configuring the user account to access the reporting services

The user account that you configure to access the reporting services must have Browser role or administrator privileges on the SQL Reporting Server.

For more information, see the Set URL to MS-SQL Reporting Services Engine section of the Kaseya VSA User's Guide.

To configure the user account to access the reporting services

1.Log on to the Kaseya VSA Console.

2.In the navigation pane, click System > Server Management > Configure.

3.Click Change URL next to the Set URL to MS-SQL Reporting Services engine field.

4.Click Edit.

5.Select the Specify Account check box.

6.Specify the user account details.

7.Click Save.

8.Click Test to verify that you can access the reporting services.

Step-3: Re-register the plug-in’s report templates with SSRS
