NORTHERN DIVISION COORDINATOR

REPORT TO HOUSE OF DELEGATES

OCTOBER 16, 2016

The whole Division has had a very busy summer, including some heading to Nashville for International Convention, Harmony University, Ontario District Quartet Event, as well as family centered events.

North Bay Chapter

North Bay continues to improve and grow under the Direction of Heather Gardner. They have a number of sing-outs planned for 2017, including Singing Valentines. A lot of activities are in concert with The Baytones Ladies Chorus, which is an awesome way to grow BOTH Chapters. At Christmas time, the North Bay Christmas Walk as well as Christmas sing-outs at seniors’ residences and others. President Chuck tells me that the guys are committed to growing and learning!!! Sounds like they are in for a great 2017 and future.

Huntsville Chapter

After a successful season of sing-outs and their Annual Show, the guys are gearing up for a very busy Christmas Season. But, before, they are a Huntsville Place Mall in early September, with brochures, DVD’s andQuartet Singing. In February, the guys will be delivering Singing Valentines. Huntsville plans their Shows well in advance, but were disappointed to hear that the O YA Chorus would not be able to attend the Annual “Night of Harmony” Show in August, 2017. I am sure they will have that spot filled in very quickly. The Algonquin Theatre, & the people of Huntsville are a real treat to entertain.

Newmarket Chapter

The Newmarket guys are very energized by their competing in the Fall Competition, held in Belleville in 2015. The positive comments received by the Judges have given rise to commit to compete annually. They had not competed in a few years, but came on stage, & gave it their all. The Chapter has a goal of increasing membership from 20 to 40 this year. I believe that, not only Newmarket, but all Chapters attending the Paul Ellinger seminar, SUPERCHARGER, in early September, will see growth. I am pleased that Newmarket is hosting this event, and know that it will be a great success.

Barrie Chapter

Barrie has been a very busy Chapter this year. We have an additional Director, Jan Ake Westin, as well as Jim Doyle and Larry Maw, to steer the Chrous forward. The Chapter was represented at Harmony University by Jan Ake, and he returned with a harvest of some amazing new knowledge, to excite & challenge the Chapter. There are two shows for 2016; the regular Annual Show, being held earlier this year, is headlined by Chapter Quartets and special guests, Sugartones, ladies Quartet. This show is special as it’s the 40th Anniversary of the Barrie Chapter, and I congratulate each and every member. I also remember those men, who have joined Chapter Eternal, who are very much a part of those 40 years. In October, the Chapter will be guests of the Huronia Soundwave Annual Show.

Final Comments

I continue to support each Chapter in the Division and plan to visit and encourage, in this New Year, as always. I hope to attend Executive Team meetings, of each Chapter, as well as rehearsal evenings, just to keep a close connection. Each Chapter has an amazing Executive & supportive Members. I am very proud, and thankful, to be the Northern Divisional Coordinator.
