28165 / Keyboarding I / X / X / X / X / The student will learn master touch operation on a computer keyboard. Correct fingering by touch and good techniques will receive primary emphasis; speed and accuracy will be given secondary emphasis. The fourth row – numbers and symbols and 10-key pad will also be taught. The student will learn to use basic word processing functions on a variety of document types such as memos, letters and reports.

35109 / Spanish II / X / X / X / Intermediate course in Spanish with emphasis on conversation and reading ability. Prerequisite - passing grade in Spanish I.

35139 / German II / X / X / X / Continuation of German I. Emphasis on creating language in various situations. Students continue to practice and improve vocabulary and communication skills.
43360 / FACS (Family & Consumer Science) Exploration A / X / X / This course provides students the opportunity to learn essential life skills. It allows them to develop skills in food and nutrition, childcare and safety, interior design, clothing construction and style, consumerism, family relationships, personal responsibility, and job-related tasks. Consumable Fee.
84079 / Gateway to Technology DM & ST / X / X / DM (Design and Modeling) uses 3D solid modeling software (AutoDesk Inventor) to introduce students to the design process. Students will accurately sketch their ideas on paper, use the computer software to create 3D models, and then using a 3D printer, actually print out their design. If there is time, the models will also be made in the shop using basic shop equipment as part of the ST unit.
ST (Science and Technology) is where students explore nanotechnology and applied physics. Then students will use what they have learned to make some shop projects and some physics labs. Some of the projects include air powered dragsters, Roller Coaster Mania, ice cream, and electric cars.

84081 / Gateway to Technology AR & ME / X / X / AR (Automation & Robotics) has students use VEX Robotics equipment to build mechanisms and various robotic & automation systems to solve problems. Students will also learn some basic programming to control their robots.
ME (Magic of Electrons) teaches students the basics of electronics; how to design and make electrical circuits. They will use basic shop equipment to make some electronic devices and they will design and solder a light operated night light.
52005 / Basic Reading Skills / X / X / X / X / For those who need extra instructional time for basic reading and comprehension.
52009 / Advanced Reading / X / X / X / X / This course is designed to perpetuate the love of reading and extend the reading skills of advanced readers, by offering a variety of new and challenging reading opportunities and text varieties. The course requires 50 A.R. (Accelerated Reader) points per quarter. This class is a single-enrollment opportunity—students may take the class only once during their junior high school years.

outside reading, and specific steps in the writing process.
52146 / Yearbook / X / X / X / Involves producing the yearbook. Skills in journalism, commercial art and organization will be taught. An average of 20 hours of work before and after school is necessary. Graphic Design and Photoshop experience is helpful. (By application)
62170 / Math Lab / X / X / X / X / This is a math study/homework class designed to assist students who struggle and need extra help with their Math class by giving them extra time to complete their Math work and also receive extra help from a Math teacher. Teacher Recommendation Required.
62105 / 8th Grade Mathematics / X / X / The purpose of Secondary Mathematics I is to formalize and extend the mathematics that students learned in the middle grades. The critical areas deepen and extend understanding of linear relationships, by contrasting them with exponential phenomena, and by applying linear models to data that exhibit a linear trend. Students will use properties and theorems involving congruent figures to deepen and extend understanding of geometric knowledge from prior grades. The final unit in the course ties together the algebraic and geometric ideas studied.
