North Middlesex Youth Lacrosse Association Registration

Frequently Asked Questions

1.  Do I have to sign up for U.S Lacrosse in order to register for a North Middlesex Youth Lacrosse program?

  1. Yes – U.S. Lacrosse membership provides multiple benefits including the insurance for the program, a parent newsletter describing changes to the U.S. Lacrosse rules at each level and a monthly magazine for each player.
  2. A valid U.S. Lacrosse membership is required for the length of the season for each player. U.S Lacrosse memberships must be up to date for a player to participate in games and practices.

2.  My child’s U.S. Lacrosse membership doesn’t expire until June 2014, why do I have to renew in order to proceed through to the NMYLA registration program page?

  1. U.S. Lacrosse registration must be valid for the full length of the lacrosse season which for most years’ ends in late June. If the expiration date is before the last day of June 2014, the system will require a renewal in order to register for next season.

3.  My child’s U.S. Lacrosse membership expires mid-next season but the registration system didn’t pass me through to U.S Lacrosse in order to renew, what should I do?

  1. Proceed with NMYLA program registration now and as we get closer to the season start, you will need to renew your child’s U.S Lacrosse membership at the U.S Lacrosse site directly using one of the following three options:

Ø  Choose the red join/renew button on the left hand of the homepage of www.uslacrosse.org website (and located on the left hand menu of this page) and then enter the relevant information for yourself.

Ø  Log in to your online account and then choose the join/renew button on the top of the left-hand menu bar.

Ø  Fax a membership application to 410-843-0390.

4.  How do I determine which program to select for my child’s age?

  1. The programs levels are grade based and follow these guidelines:
  2. U9 – 0-2nd Grade
  3. U11 – 3rd and 4th Grade
  4. U13 – 5th and 6th Grade
  5. U15 – 7th and 8th Grade
  6. If you have any questions regarding which program your child should participate in, please contact the Girls or Boys program director for input.

5.  Is my child registered once I enter my information in the system?

  1. No – you will need to create an entry for your contact information as a parent and continue on to create the registration details for your child or children if you have multiple.
  2. Each child must have a unique entry so they can be assigned to a team based on the school grade program you selected for them.
  3. No registration has been processed until you select the appropriate program for your child’s age and gender (U9, U11, U13 or U15) and receive a confirmation notice.

6.  Do I have to pay by credit card at the time of registration?

  1. We encourage parents to pay online at the time of registration to confirm a spot in the program but it is not required. You can send a check made out to NMYLA before December 31, 2013. Please note your child(s) name and registered program (U9, U11, U13, and U15) on the bottom of the check and send to NMYLA, P.O. Box 1023, Pepperell, MA 01463.

7.  Why do I have to register for a spring 2014 lacrosse season now?

  1. We are pleased that the NMYLA program is expanding and wish to offer all players an exceptional experience with the game of lacrosse. In order to meet that goal we need to plan for the number of teams, coaches for each team, indoor and outdoor field space as well as uniforms and equipment. The more information regarding the number of players we have before the season allows us to better meet our goal of an excellent lacrosse season for everyone.
  2. NMYLA participates in two parent organizations (Patriot Youth Lacrosse and Mass Bay Girls Youth Lacrosse) which require team counts at each level so they can coordinate league play, field space and tournaments. Once we provided that information to our league programs, we are locked in to that number of teams which means additional registrations add players to the existing teams. If we have the registrations in advance, we can provide for the number of teams needed to keep the team at an optimum number of players so that every child has a great experience.

8.  If I register now, what happens if my child changes his or her mind later this year?

  1. If you’ve registered and your child decides not to play, we refund your NMLYA registration. We will not be able to refund U.S. Lacrosse memberships.

9.  I went into the registration system and I can’t register my child because it says the program is full. What do I do?

  1. We have created the number of available spots for each team based on the number of players in 2013. Once those spots are full we will add a wait list registration to capture the number of additional interested players. Depending on the number of wait listed individuals we could add another team or expand the size of the existing teams.
