Grant Programs

NDAE4-YW offers two different grants each year. The Youth Programming Funds Grant is offered from interest earned from the NDAE4-HYW investment account with the ND 4-H Foundation. The Clover Shop Grant funds are made available from Clover Shop sales. The amount of grant funds available will vary each year depending on interest earned and/or income received.

You may apply for both grants, but separate applications must be submitted for each of these grants.

General Guidelines for both the Youth Programming Funds
and Clover Shop Grants

1.Grant applications are due December 8,2017.

2.Proposals must include an application form, acomplete budget, indicating sources of additional funds and future funding plans, if applicable.

3. Funds cannot be used to for salaries or dues to an organization.

4. Funds can be used to pay for registration, food and lodging for out of state trips to national 4-H events.

5.Grant recipients will sign an agreement to use the funds only for the purposes described in the grant application. If funds are used in other ways, without permission, the funds must be repaid and interest will be accrued at the current rate. All grant funds not used for thegrant project must be returned to the ND Association of Extension 4-H Youth Workers.

6. Grant recipients shall submit a report within 90 days after the completion of the funded project or event, stating what was learned, numbers reached, etc. (As listed inthe project detail portion of the grant application).

7. Projects are to be completed within one year of when the grant money is awarded.

Additional time for project completion will be considered by the grant committee on a per grant application basis.

8. The grant selection committee will be responsible for the selection process. The decision of the committee is final.

Youth Programming Funds Grant

Guidelines for Application

1.Grant proposals may be submitted by NDSU Extension Staff or by 4-H clubs.

2.Grant award amounts vary depending on the amount of interest earned from the
NDAE4-HYW investment in the ND 4-H Foundation.

3.Professional development opportunities such as attending trainings or workshops, hosting county or region wide youth development activities or a club or county wide community project would be examples of possible application topics.

  1. Project Summary: Please describe what you want to do. Why do you want to do this project? Why should it be funded? How is it going to enhance your 4-H experience?

2. Project Details:

  • What are the goals and objectives of this project? (What do you want to accomplish, learn or experience)?
  • What are the beginning and ending dates of this project?
  • What or who is the target audience (who is the project for)?
  • Who will participate?
  • How many participants will there be (if a group is involved)?
  • What are the specific activities or other things that will be done to meet the goals and objectives?
  • What will be the result of this project?
  • Who will be impacted or affected (if it involves a group) in the community? How does this project relate to the goals of 4-H?
  • How will the project be evaluated?
  • How will you know if you have learned or experienced what you set out to do?

3. Budget

  • What is the total budget for this project?
  • What is the amount being requested through this grant?
  • If the project is not totally funded through the grant amount, how will the necessary remaining funds be obtained?
  • Use the Grant Proposal BudgetSheet to explain income and expenses for this project.

Clover Shop Innovative Grant

Guidelines for Application

1. Grants will be awarded for up to $500, depending on Clover Shop profits from the preceding year.

2. Proposals will not be accepted for normal/usual 4-H project expenses.

3. Grant proposals may be submitted by NDSU Extension Staff or by 4-H clubs.

4.Examples of grant possibilities (but not limited to the following) include:

  • Provide educational programs and opportunities to develop leadership, volunteerism, entrepreneurship,technology and citizenship skills. Support educational projects that provide innovative methods to learn and develop life skills from specific project areas. Programs may build upon an awareness of science and technology, career education, life skill development, subject matter, etc.
