Code of Conduct

To ensure a cooperative, safe, and educational environment, the following policies will be an expectation of each House Page. Please review this with your child, by signing you acknowledge that both of you understand and agree to comply with all that is listed below.

Reporting for Work:

  • Monday at 1:00 P.M. (Sharp).
  • Tuesday and Wednesday at 8:00 A.M. (Sharp) until 5:00 P.M.
  • Thursday at 8:00 A.M. (Sharp) until 3:00 P.M.

Personal Belongings:

  • The General Assembly will not be responsible for the loss or theft of a Page’s personal belongings. A limited number of mini-lockers are provided daily on a first-come basis.

Cell Phone Use:

  • House Pages may bring their cell phones, but they will only be allowed to use them during lunch time and after hours. Cell phones are not permitted in the House Chamber, nor are they permissible for use in committee meetings.

Leaving the Legislative Complex:

  • House Pages will be allowed to leave the legislative complex with prior approval from the House Page Supervisor.

Prohibited Behavior:

  • All Pages are expected to display courteous and proper behavior at all times. The following behavior will not be tolerated during participation in the House Page Program:

Use and/or possession of any and all tobacco products.

Use and/or possession of any and all vapor products.

The consumption and/or possession of alcoholic beverages.

Use, consumption, and/or possession of any illegal drugs.

The possession and/or use of firearms or fireworks/explosive materials.

Excessively noisy behavior.

The use of threatening language or conversation.

The threat of or commission of physical violence or emotional harm against any person.

Sexual contact, indecent exposure, or any related behavior.

Any other behavior or conduct not listed above, but is deemed inappropriate by the House Page Supervisor.

I agree:

  • To listen to the House Page Supervisor at all times.
  • To conduct myself in a reasonable manner that reflects my school, district, and legislative member.
  • To take full financial responsibility for all property damage(s) that occurs as a result of my actions.
  • To wear appropriate clothing and footwear for all activities.
  • To refrain from the use of personal possessions that are disruptive during any and all meetings.
  • To participate in all planned activities.
  • To attend all committee meetings and sessions.
  • To speak with the House Page Supervisor if I feel uncomfortable at any time.
  • To treat others with respect by not using profane language, racial slurs, vulgar conversation, name calling, teasing, or bullying.
  • To have a good time and learn as much as possible from this one of a kind experience.

Acknowledgement:

I understand and agree to follow the Code of Conduct while I am a participant in the North Carolina House Page Program. I realize that failure to comply with the Code of Conduct may result in me being sent home.

As the Parent and/or Legal Guardian of ______, I hereby acknowledge that I have read and reviewed the Code of Conduct with him/her. I agree to the compliance of the Code of Conduct by my child. I am aware that if he or she does not comply with the Code of Conduct he or she may be sent home. I accept financial responsibility for damages to property that may be incurred as a result of the actions of the above signed participant.
