Student textbooks will be handled differently than in the past. Every IUSD textbook now has a scan barcode/number as well as a student number. Your child will be given a student number in the classroom, and his/her textbooks are labeled with that same number. During the first week, textbooks will be scanned into the IUSD inventory system, and your child will be responsible for those exact textbooks the entire school year. This means the books issued to your child in July2012 need to be returned in June 2013.

Normal wear and tear is expected. Students will use textbooks regularly, and they will be brought home for further study or review of concepts. It is suggested that your child not eat or drink when using textbooks at home, for that is the same expectation while at school. Hopefully your child will find these textbooks a valuable learning resource and a springboard for other topics of interest.

For your convenience, the books’ condition has been identified based upon the previous school year. The categories are: new, good, fair, poor. New means the textbook has never been used before, and your child is the first one to use it. Good means the book is slightly worn. There are some bent/folded pages, a few marks inside, minor bending at the corners, etc. Fair means the book is worn, but usable. Some pages have been bent, folded, torn/re-taped inside, and are curved at the edges. There are marks (erased, but still noticeable) or other portions of the book that show use. The spine is still strong, but might be loose. Poor condition books are not issued at this time. However, if you feel your child’s textbook was issued in this condition, please contact me immediately.

Listed below is the current information for the textbooks issued to your child. If you have additional information you want listed about the book, please contact me immediately. Thanks!
