Nomination for Honorary Fellow

The Institute of Physics seeks help in identifying exceptional individuals for the award of its highest honour, Honorary Fellow. An Honorary Fellow may have contributed to physics generally or the work of the Institute in a number of ways and if successful will act as an ambassador for the Institute of Physics.

The Honorary Fellows Committee sits once a year, in June. Nominations can be submitted at any time throughout the year. For consideration in 2018, nominations must be received by Friday, 1 June 2018.

3) Summary of achievements (300 words)

Please put forward you case for why your nominee is deserving of Honorary Fellowship. This should be written for a scientifically literate lay person. Thesummary of achievement is a crucial factor when the Honorary Fellows Committeeconsiders the nomination.

4) Biographical statement (1000 words or 2 page curriculum vitae)

The proposer should include a biographical statement.

5) Supporting evidence (400 words)

The Honorary Fellows Committee will look primarily at the strength of the summary of achievements when considering a nomination. But other supporting material may be included if relevant to the nomination.

If applicable, please provide the nominee’s h-index and include a list of their most significant publications or academic papers to demonstrate contributions in their chosen area of endeavour. Please provide a maximum of 10 publications (with dates and citations) and include recent work.

For nominees who work in an industrial or business environment, support of these nominations should highlight the impact and significance on the organisation of the nominee’s or team’s achievement. Such evidence may include measures such as patents and IP registered, external funding attracted, projects instigated or implemented, sales achieved or other measures of growth.
