NOMINATION FOR A CREATIVE & CULTURAL SKILLS AWARD

GUIDANCE NOTES

The Creative & Cultural Skills Awards recognise organisations and individuals working to support young talent to build careers in the creative sector.

The Awards also seek to recognise exemplary apprentices and interns working in the sector.

The deadline for all nominations is 5pm on Friday 9thJanuary 2015.

Shortlisted nominations will be announced on Wednesday 4th February 2015. Award winners will be announced at a ceremony at The Backstage Centre on Wednesday 4th March 2015.

1 WHO CAN MAKE A NOMINATION

Anyone may make a nomination by completing this form and forwarding it to Self-nominations are permitted.

2COMPLETING THE NOMINATION FORM

Please complete the nomination form completely and accurately, following the instructions in each section closely.

You are required to fill out different parts of this form depending on which award you are nominating for (please see list below).

It is important that you provide as much information as possible and explain what the nominee’s contribution has been.

4 ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

Awards 1-6
These sector specific awards are open to individuals who have demonstrated excellence in supporting young talent joining the creative industries. This might include mentors, managers, tutors, facilitators and leaders of businesses or training programmes, working in the appropriate industries.

Nominations for awards 1-6 will be assessed against the following criteria:

-Nominee has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to promoting vocational employment pathways (apprenticeships, paid internships, traineeships) in their respective area of work (Design, Music, Craft, Jewellery, Cultural Heritage, Theatre)

-Nominee can evidence a track record of successfully supporting young people to gain employment in their respective area of work(Design, Music, Craft, Jewellery, Cultural Heritage, Theatre)

-Nominee demonstrates an ambition to expand its activity or reach to support more young people into work

-Nominee’s activity or approach is particularly innovative and imaginative

Award 7
The Training Provider of the Year Award is open to organisations (not individuals) which have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to supporting young people into work in the creative industries.

Nominations for award 7 will be assessed against the following criteria:

-Nominee has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to promoting vocational employment pathways (apprenticeships, paid internships, traineeships) into the creative and cultural sector

-Nominee can evidence a track record of successfully supporting young people to gain employment in the creative and cultural sector

-Nominee demonstrates an ambition to support young people from all backgrounds into employment in the creative and cultural industries

-Nominee’s activity or approach is particularly innovative and imaginative

Award 8
The Apprentice of the Year Award is open to apprentices working in Design, Music, Craft, Jewellery, Cultural Heritage, or Theatre who have shown exceptional ambition and talent.

Nominees for this award must either (1) currently be an apprentice, or (2) have finished their apprenticeship after 5th March 2014.

If you are intending to nominate an apprentice for this award please seek their permission before doing so.

Nominations for award 8 will be assessed against the following criteria:

-Nominee has shown an outstanding level of application and commitment to learning throughout their apprenticeship

-Nominee has displayed the ability to make a significant difference to the productivity or efficiency of their place of work

-Nominee has brought new ideas and ways of working to their place of work

Award 9

The Intern of the Year Award is open to paid interns working in Design, Music, Craft, Jewellery, Cultural Heritage, Theatre who have shown exceptional ambition and talent

Nominees for this award must either (1) currently be a paid intern, or (2) have finished their internship after 5th March 2014

If you are intending to nominate an intern for this award please seek their permission before doing so.

Nominations for award 9 will be assessed against the following criteria:

-Nominee has shown an outstanding level of application and commitment to learning throughout their internship

-Nominee has displayed the ability to contribute to improved productivity or efficiency in their place of work

-Nominee has brought new ideas and ways of working which have helped their colleagues

5TIMING OF NOMINATIONS

The deadline for all awards is 5pm on Friday 9thJanuary 2015.

All decisions made by the Creative & Cultural Skills Awards panel are final and not subject to review or appeal

6SHORTLIST

Shortlisted nominations will be announced on 4th February 2014 via

Shortlisted nominees will be contacted between 4th–11th February 2014.

7CEREMONY

All shortlisted nominees will be invited to attend an evening ceremony at The Backstage Centre on 4th March 2015.

Please note that two tickets to this event will be free of charge for nominees. Travel expenses will not be recompensed.

SECTION 3 – THE ENDORSEMENT
