We will also begin our Persuasive Writing Unit. In this unit, students will learn how to write to persuade someone to do something, to like something, or see things from their view point. They will all write me a persuasive letter to convince me not to give any more written homework for the remainder of the school year. At the end of the unit, the students will write a letter to next year’s first grader convincing them that first grade will be a wonderful year.

In math, we will begin our unit on Three – Dimensional Geometry. This week the students will identify three-dimensional shapes according to defining attributes. The following terms will be discussed: cone, cube, curved surface, cylinder, flat surface, rectangular prism and sphere.
