And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? (John's eagle eye got filmed over down there in prison. See?)
Jesus answered and said unto him, Go... shew John again these things which thou--you... hear and see: (John's a prophet, and if he'll--if he'll hear this is what's going on, he'll know Who I am. See? He said...)

Don't begin to say, 'We belong to this and that,' 'cause God's able of these stones to rise children..." Oh, brother, it wasn't a reed shaken by a wind with him.)... A reed shaken with the wind? Or what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment?... (Has to change his clothes two or three times while he's preaching)... behold, they that wear soft raiment--clothing are in kings' houses. (They're the ministers that goes out and kisses the babies, you know, and--and marries the young, and--and goes to the school and makes intellectual talks, and you know, all these little sissified things. See, see? He don't swing a two-headed sword out here on the front line.)
("What'd you go out to see? Some guy like that?" He was--He's asking them.) But what went you out... to see? A prophet?... (Listen.)... yea, and I say unto you, and more than a prophet. (Yes, sir. What was he? Said, "He's more than a prophet?" He was a prophet plus. He was the messenger of that age.) What went ye out... to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.
For this is he,... whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before My face, to... prepare the way before Me...

241 Watch. Now Malachi 4, let me read this. He's going to come again...
... behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea,...
That's today. I walk down the street and see these people. You can talk to them, and they laugh at you, make fun of you. I think, "What is it?" The other day I was walking along down the side of the square down here; I was talking to some people, and they just said, "Aw..." walked on. Something just said to me, "They're atomic fodder, soon to be ashes scattered upon the ground. Let them alone. You spoke your piece. Get ready and get out of here." Hallelujah. I ought not have said that I guess. "Get yourself ready. Gird up your loins; I'm calling you." That's the reason I'm waiting.
For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; yea, all the proud,... and all that do wickedly, shall be as stubbles:... (That's exactly what it'll be. What happens when a great, some of you farmers, when a heavy fire hits a wheat field when she's just stubble? She just lays her flat with ashes behind. That's what will do when that--when she strikes.)... the day... cometh, that shall burn them up saith the LORD of host, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. (There'll be nothing left of them.)
But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness rise with healing in his wings;... you shall go forth, and grow up as calves in the stall. (That's the millennium.)
And you shall tread down the wicked; for they'll be ashes under the soles of your feet in that day that I will do this, saith the LORD of host. (Coming out in the millennium... The ashes of the wicked)
Remember... the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded... him in Horeb for all Israel, as the statue and judgments.
(Now listen, close now.) Behold, I will send to you Elijah the prophet before the coming of that great and dreadful day of the LORD:
Now, that could not have been John. It could not, because the world would've been destroyed then. But here He said in Matthew 3, He sends a messenger before Him. And Jesus said, "That's the Elijah that was to come to prepare the way before Me. But before this great atomic bomb hits, I'll send to you Elijah the prophet."
And he shall turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to the fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

E-55 John the Baptist was a sign. After four hundred years with no prophets, John the Baptist was a sign of the coming of the Messiah. John announced Him, that He would come. And then when... What happened? The Jewish race was cut off from the tree of salvation. And John was the announcement of the coming of judgment.
This day this Scripture is fulfilled...
40And we know how peculiar that Scripture reading was, because He just took a portion of the 1st and 2nd verses, of Isaiah 61:1 and 2. But He read down this far, where, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, to bind up the brokenhearted, and to--to (give) heal the sick, and to open the blinded eyes, and to preach the acceptable year of the Lord," and then He stopped. For, the next was to bring judgment; that would apply to His Second Coming, not His first coming. And He stopped, and turned around, and said, "This day this Scripture is fulfilled." How direct that was!
44How accurate is the Scripture! If you'll notice this in Isaiah 61:1 to 2, is where our Lord was reading from, Isaiah 61:1 to 2. But in the middle of the 2nd verse of Isaiah 61, He stopped. Where it said, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me; to preach the acceptable year," then He stopped. Why? The other part, to bring judgment, didn't apply to His first coming, but His second Coming. See, it didn't apply there. How the Scriptures never make a mistake! They are always perfect. Jesus stopped just where the Scripture stopped, 'cause that was exactly what was to be vindicated in His day, now, in that first coming. The second Coming He will bring judgment upon the earth; but not then. He was "to preach the acceptable year."

106Notice the Scripture so accurately gives it. Watch what this... to show the... them who wants to believe, them who wants to see. Remember, Jesus stopping in the middle of a Scripture, 'cause part of it was fulfilled then, the rest for His second Coming? "To preach the acceptable year of the Lord, bind up the brokenhearted," and stopped; not "bring judgment to the Gentile" until His second Coming.
And now we're going to read from Jeremiah the 29th chapter, the 10th verse.
For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to turn to this place.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you... (Isn't that sweet?)... saith the LORD, though thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you the accepted end.
Then shall you call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all... nations, and from all the places where I have drove you, saith the LORD; and... will bring you again unto--unto the place which I caused you to be carried away captive. Back to pentecost!
I put that in, myself. It doesn't say that. That's what I was meaning to the Church.
Luke 16, begin at the 15th verse, or the 16th verse.
The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presses into it.
"Every man presses into It." Not just simply walks into It, easily, but It's got to be pressed into. See? Now, "When you seek Me with all your heart, then I'll be found."

83 Now, it's prophesied that the churches would be in this condition, had to be restored back again. And He said, in Malachi 4, that He would "send Elijah the prophet, and would restore the--the people back again," with the... bring it. Notice. And just before... Or, right after his Message, there will be a time when the world will burn, and the righteous will walk out upon the ashes.
84 Now, to some theologian that might be listening in on a tape, somewhere around the world, if you think that that was John, remember, then, the Scriptures is wrong, for the world did not burn after John's message. Jesus did not come and take the people in the Millennium; but He has promised to do it after the Spirit of Elijah comes upon the earth again.

139 Now, quickly, let's think of Him a moment, here He is on His road up. A little priest came down, no doubt but that little fellow was a borderline believer.
140 There is so many of them in the world today, little borderline believers. They want to believe That. They want to believe that the Holy Ghost is real. They want to believe this is the apostolic move, as God promised in the last days He would pour out His Spirit. We... he wants to believe in Malachi 4, that He promised, in the last days the--the original pentecostal Faith would be restored back to the--to the church again.
141 Malachi 4 claims it. "Behold, I will send to you Elijah in the last day," that's right, "and He will restore the Faith of the children back to the fathers again," see, "the Faith of the fathers to the children, also." See, it's got to be.
You say, "Well, that was John the Baptist." No, no.
142 John the Baptist was Malachi 3. That's right. Matthew 11 says so, "If you can receive it, this is he who is spoke of, 'Behold, I send My messenger before My face.'" It was Elijah, certainly. Jesus said it was. But not the Elijah of Malachi 4, at all.

143Because, "Immediately after that Message, the earth is to be burnt with fire, and the righteous walk out upon the ashes of the wicked." So it never happened in the time of John.

93 One night the Lord woke him up, one morning. We were setting, he and I, looked like in Jerusalem at the Lord's Communion table, and I was talking. He couldn't understand it. And Brother Roy, setting present, looking at me right now, and he saw it. And he called me up, in Houston... or out in Arizona, or sent me a letter and I called him back. He said, "You were setting there, Brother Branham, and I saw that big Pillar of Light come in and get you, and take you away from the Lord's table, and you went westward." Cause he was setting on the east side watching me go west, and this Light come in and taken me out.
94 Said it was one morning, like it was a vision. Got up in the bed, about three or four o'clock in the morning, something like that, and saw this happen. And said he screamed, look like, for days, "Brother Bill, come back!" And Roy and I have been real brothers. We live together, and hunt together, and we're just brothers. And he--he screamed for me, till he was hoarse in his throat, "Come back! Bring him back! Bring him back," crying. He said I... Here come that Pillar of Fire coming back, or a Cloud come back, and He set me at the head of the table, and I had been changed. It was a mystery to Brother Roy, me being changed, to look different. I lay this up here for something I want to remember, "being changed," when I give him the interpretation of it.
