No-Fail Pizza Dough without Waiting

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 envelope Fleischmann's® RapidRise Yeast
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or olive oil
  • 1 cup warm water (120 degrees F)
  • Nonstick Cooking Spray or oil to prepare pizza pan
  • Cornmeal for sprinkling on pizza pan
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • Toppings (cooked & drained sausage, pepperoni, etc.)
  • Note: Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Directions

  1. Combine flour, sugar, and yeast in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Mix in oil and warm water.
  3. Knead on lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 4 minutes.
  4. Cover with a towel and let rest while preparing toppings (about 10 min).
  5. Lightly oil 1 (14-inch) round pizza pan. Sprinkle with cornmeal.
  6. Shape dough to fit pizza pan on a cutting board and transfer to pan, carefully. Sprinkle salt evenly on dough, especially around the edges.(Note: You may sprinkle garlic powder, if desired and use a pastry brush to brush lightly with olive oil.)

7. Take a ladle and thinly spread sauce up to a half-inch from the crust (unless you desire no crust). The richer the sauce, the less you will want to use.
8. Use your hand and slowly sprinkle the cheese all the way around the pizza and on the sauce. The goal here is not to eliminate all red splotches; it is simply to put enough on to allow the toppings to adhere.

9. *Add the topping(s). Follow this rule: less is more. If you add too many

toppings, the pizza will run the risk of not cooking thoroughly in the oven and also not

taste as good.

10. Bake at 375 degrees F for 20 to 25 minutes.

Yield: One 14-inch

*NOTE: Pizza toppings are normally placed upon a pizza in a specific order, not because it is tidy but because the pizza sauce keeps the pizza dough moist (no crust), the cheese then provides a bed for the toppings to rest on and they do not dry out or fall off as the pizza slice is held. More cheese is added to keep the dough moist and the garnish is not cooked so it is applied last afterbaking. The following list is the traditional order: pizza dough, pizza sauce, Mozzarella cheese, pizza toppings, Parmesan cheese, garnishes (herbs: oregano, basil, Italian herbs, garlic powder, paprika powder, parsley, chives, etc).
