Introduction: Call to order, Pledge of Allegiance

Take Attendance: pass aroundand initial roll sheet; remember you must attend 75% of the meetings (3 out of 4 per semester) to maintain membership. Probation notices will be given to members that miss more than one meeting this semester. Please see Ms. Chancey if you absolutely must miss a meeting and we will work with you as much as possible. You will still be responsible for getting the agenda and keeping up with NJHS activities. Remember to check the NJHS page on the school website for updates. It is now updated on a regular basis.

Dues: The dues for this semester are $5and were to be paid by Friday, September 30th. If you have not paid, you can avoid dismissal proceedings for non-payment by contacting Ms. Chancey to make arrangements to keep your membership status in good standing. See Ms.Chancey ASAP.

Shirts: T-shirts will be ordered and hopefully received the week of October 17th. If you have not placed your order, please contact Ms. Chancey ASAP to make arrangements to keep your membership status in good standing. NJHS T-shirts are mandatory and are required to be worn when participating in all school sponsored service projects

Committee participation: Each member is now assigned to one of the five standing committees of Leadership, Character, Citizenship, Scholarship, and Service. If you did not sign up, you were randomly placed on a committee. Check the committee lists, stationed at each table, for your official committee assignment. Your committee will be responsible for organizing at least one service project for this school year. Special meeting times will be announced as needed.

Service projects:

  • Service points receipts passed out; these receipts are very important as they are the member’s only proof of points earned, keep them in a secure place
  • Individual Service Projects (ISP) must be completed for at least two points per semester. Forms are available online or in Ms. Chancey’s room. Turn them in to the ISP box located in Ms. Chancey’s room.
  • Probation notices will be issued the first week of November for any member that has not earned any service points as of October 30th.
  • During the induction ceremony in the spring, high service point awards will be presented, one based on the total number of points earned and one on the total number of ISP points earned.
  • Remember, NJHS T-shirts are to be worn at all school sponsored service projects
  • Santa Fe Elementary Fall Carnival – Friday, November 4, 5-8pm - 2 points; 20 students are needed as volunteers to help with the festival and must provide their own transportation; they have specifically requested artists for the face painting activity; must sign up by Thursday, Oct 20th
  • Wayland Bonds Elementary Science Fair Judge – Wednesday, December 7th, 4-6pm - 2 points; the sign up list is full but a waiting list has been started; an informational meeting will be held in November; listen for announcements for details or check the website
  • Career Day– to be held Friday, November 18th; will be organized by the Leadership committee – provide refreshments for guests and/or serve as guides – 1 or 2 points
  • 2016 Presidential Mock Election – Tuesday, November 8th; the Citizenship committee will organize the preparation and set up for the election the week of Oct 31st; workers are needed after school to prepare voter ID cards, posters, voting booths, and set up the voting area

Reminders of additional requirements of membership:

  • 3.5 cumulative GPA
  • Continue to uphold NJHS standards. It is possible to lose membership if you get into trouble at school.
