Ninth appearance for Canadians in SRIXON International Junior Classic

VANCOUVER, BC – October 10, 2016 - Canada was represented this past week by the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s team of players in the SRIXON International Junior Classic at Cypress Lakes Golf and Country Club in Hunter Valley, NSW, Australia, which is billed as the ‘largest junior golf event in the Southern Hemisphere’ with over 300 competitors from several countries taking part from October 3 to 7, 2016.

Canadian team members,sponsored by MJT Official International Events Partner, TuGo, qualified across the country on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour this season, and included Justin Pasitney (St. Paul, Alberta), Brad Moser (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan), Dylan Henderson (Waterloo, Ontario), and sisters Meghan and Heather McLean (Port Williams, Nova Scotia) under the direction of Louis Melanson, MJT Tournament Director and six-time PGA Teacher of the Year in Atlantic Canada.

All of the juniors improved their play as the tournament progressed, battling tough conditions and different grass, with Meghan McLean ending up as the top-placed Canadian in 28th spot with three great final round scores of 79-76-75 after a tough opening round of 91.Virunpat Olankitkunchaifrom Thailand won the Girls Championship with scores of 75-73-69-68 (285) and Australia’s Josh Armstrongwas the Boys Champion (71-70-73-75=289).

This is the ninth consecutive appearance for MJT Team Canada in the event which has competitors from Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, China, USA, Japan andIndonesia taking part.
