Market Day 2018
Nickajack Elementary 3rd Grade
Date for Market Day: March 30, 2018 12:30-1:45
Dear Parents,
This year the 3rd grade will hold Market Day. This Market Day will connect to economic concepts learned during social studies this quarter. Each child will beable to spend 24tickets from a variety of products or services that other students offer.
Each student should have a “booth” for market day. The booth will be their desktop. Each booth should sell a product or provide a service. For example, “products” can be bead jewelry, homemade craft projects, seasonal crafts, homemade key chains, bracelets, coasters, pencil containers, suckers, special pencils, bookmarks, etc. Some items for “services” are nail polish booth, art created by the student, hair braids, etc. There are many wonderful ideas the children can come up with, and we encourage them to be creative. NO store bought toys or candy. All items should be hand crafted by your child. They may use purchased items to create products but they must create the product.
- Have your child bring his/her Market Day items the morning of the event. We will be setting up during planning, so please send items to school with your child.
- Students can price their items between 1 and 3 tickets. They can sell more than one item as a “deal”, such as two bookmarks for 3tickets.
- Students should bring 25 products to sell.
- Each booth will need a sign with the name of their booth, item descriptions, and pricing.
- Each booth needs an open and closed sign so that students can go shop while their store is closed.
- We ask that parents do NOT attend this event, as we would like for the kids to problem solve and learn from this experience.
We hope this special day helps your child learn how to count money(tickets), budget, develop work ethics, learn about economics, as well as monitor their own behavior. Thank you for your support! some examples of student products
Sincerely,
