RIESLING

2006 TIM GRAMP CLARE VALLEY RIESLING !! $21.50

REGION: CLARE VALLEY, SOUTH AUSTRALIA

A gorgeous riesling from Tim Gramp, one of the very best from the Clare Valley in 2006. Pure, rich and long; ripe citrus fruits on a delicious palate; very refreshing. Outstanding value.

"Being a die hard Clare Valley fan, I am always thrilled to discover a new 'favourite' wine from the region. Tim Gramp Riesling from Watervale is my new flavour of the month, with its focussed flavours and enviable balance.

The wine delivers a true regional experience, with a mix of both floral and citrus characters. There is great breadth of flavour on the palate, with gorgeous chalky acidity which begs you to take sip after sip.

It is the sort of wine that is simply divine now, though it will also look good with some bottle age. So if you can resist, try to hold a couple of bottles back for the future. Look out for both the 2005 and 2006 vintages which are both excellent." Toni Paterson MW, Wine Diva - Wine of the Month

"Both the bouquet and palate are flush with ripe citrus, passionfruit and apple flavours, but avoid heaviness; excellent length. Drink Now-2020." James Halliday - 94 points

"Delicate talc-like floralsand freshly squeezed lime juice aromatics. Tight and citric palate with razor like acidity and a powerful mineral element. This bone dry Clare Valley Riesling has class stamped all over it. Enjoy now (with food)or wait 5-8 years for bottle aged complexity to develop. Drink: 2006-2014+." Grant Dodd, The Wining Pro – 93 points

"Excellent Clare Valley riesling is a Tim Gramp speciality. The '06 is a classic regional style of the fuller, richer type. Lime, apple and charming floral notes introduce it, and a salty undercurrent adds savoury interest. The palate is smooth and long, with good concentration and refinement, ahead of a lingering dry finish." ***** Ralph Kyte-Powell, Epicure Uncorked

"This wine was sourced from 100% Watervale fruit off the Castine family Golf House vineyard. A classic dry style of Riesling with seductive lime, lemon and floral aromas. The zesty citrus components follow through onto the palate, balanced with crisp acidity and good length of flavour. Patience of time in the cellar of 6-8 years will see this Riesling mellow and reward the consumer with a wine of enticing complexity." Winery Notes
