NHS Cervical Screening Programme Update
NHS England London region cervical sample taker database (Loncstd)
NHS England London Region commenced the registration of sample takers in September 2015 with the aim of completing this work in June 2016. I would like to thank you personally and on behalf of NHS England Loncstd project team for your support with this essential work. However, I regrettably inform you that the majority of laboratories across London have reported that, of all sample request forms received in the lab, just 20% – 30% of these had a valid sample taker code recorded. As you can appreciate, there still remains a lot of work to do to remind and prompt all sample takers to register on the database and use their code.
I am therefore, requesting your ongoing support to use every available opportunity to remind sample takers to register on the database by accessing the website link below.Qualified, registerednurses and physician associates will require their NHS CSP training certificate/s. I have attached a user guide to support this process.

NHS Cervical Screening Programme Guidance for the training of cervical sample takers November 2016
You may be aware of the new Public Health England trainers guidance published November 2016 and is attached. I would like to bring to your attention to the section onOrganisation and deliver of training, initial training(page 6 ), which states that:-
‘Independent training providers should ensure their training provision is endorsed and regulated by an appropriate professional body. An appropriately regulated higher education provider (or similar professional body) should deliver training in screening theory. Training should be quality assured. The training institution should be able to demonstrate the ability to meet the competencies set out in this guidance’.
NHS England London region have set1stAugust 2017as the date for this quality standard to be fully implemented. If you are aware of any in house/independent training providers who need to have their training programme regulated it would be helpful if you could forward this information to them and cc me in please. I have attached supporting RCN and RCGP documents referring to the regulation of theoretical trainingfor reference.
