Balance: types of resources – books, newspapers, encyclopedias, oral history, field trips, expert interviews, documentaries, documents, speeches, letters, diaries, photos, music, films, reports, internet (access online archives)

______Take Good Notes and Track Bibliography Information (option: use your easybib

______Construct Thesis Statement important: must be a concise argument, use theme words

______Analysis & Interpretation (difficult, but important!) historical & alternate perspective, context

______Choose Presentation Category exhibit, historical paper, performance,documentary, web site

______Organize Information outline for performance, documentary, paper

storyboard for exhibit, web site

______Create Project individual or group (2-5 students)

historical paper– individual only, 1500-2500 words: write draft, revise, edit, repeat!

exhibit – 6’X30”X40”, max. 500 student-composed words: title, thesis, subtitles, visuals,captions, floor

performance – 10 minutes maximum: script, costumes, props, practice!

documentary – 10 minutes maximum: script, narration, visuals, music

web site – use nhd.weebly.com (access via NHD web site at max. 1200 student-composed

words,title/student info/thesis on homepage, integrate media

______Process Paper (not for historical paper category) 500 words maximum: thesis statement, why chose topic, how conducted research, how chose category and created project, relation of topic to theme and impact of topic; Title Page for paper, documentary, exhibit, performance categories

______Annotated Bibliography separated into primary and secondary sources;

MLA or Turabian Style: draft, edit, revise,repeat! Easybib.com is option
