SCHOOL GAMES SILVER MARK

I am delighted to inform you that the school has been awarded The School Games Silver Mark. This is a Government led awards schemelaunched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Schools in Englandare able to assess themselves across bronze, silver and gold levels. The Mark is a retrospective award which recognises your success throughout the academic year.Previously we were awarded the Bronze mark but, now, for the first time since the schools mark launched in 2012, Deneholm Primary, has achieved the Silver Mark.

The school is extremely proud of all the children, staff and supportive parents that have contributed to the schools success. I should like to take this opportunity to also thank Mr Perry, our Sports Specialist, for the valuable contribution that he has made towards our success in achieving this award.

NATIONAL SPORTS WEEK

Next week, is National Sports Week, a week celebrating sporting attainment. To mark this special week, we will be stressing the importance of sports with all of our children and highlighting different games and sports that the children may not yet have tried.

Our summer fete promises, once again, to be a really enjoyable event, with lots of exciting activities planned. We hope that as many of you as possible will come along to support us!

SUN SAFETY

As the weather, is increasingly warm and sunny it is important that the children are kept safe in the sun. Please ensure that you provide a named bottle of still water for your child to drink in class each day. Please also provide your child with a sunhat and apply sunscreen to them before school. The children often spend significant periods of time outside during the course of a school day so sun safety is vital.
