A big hello to the Bike Alarm Man’s customers! Welcome to our 7th Newsletter!
Crime rates are soaring! Figures from the MCIA (Motorcycle Industry Association - www.mcia.co.uk) present some worrying facts….. nearly half of all motorcycle claims are for theft, and 40% of victims leave motorcycling. Bad news for us all!
The old method of ‘chucking it in a van’ seems to be losing popularity, especially in the cities! One new method is that 2 people on board a big scooter pull alongside the target bike…pillion jumps off, breaks the steering lock and sits on the target bike. The scooter rider pushes the target bike and it’s new freewheeling rider, with one leg pushing against target bike pillion footrest. Speeds of over 60 mph were recorded byDatatool’s TrakKING team during one such theft! The days of disc locks are coming back – the ‘PUSH’ method relies on speed and no other physical security being used.

Stolen bike recovery thanks to Datatool TrakKING… Chris X from Leicester:
‘When TrakKING wasfitted to my GSXR 1000,the installerstripped loads of parts off to conceal the TrakKING box. Time well spent, as at 3.30am last Tuesday I was staying at my girlfriend’s when my bike was stolen.
A guy in the Datatool control room was on the case in a flash, liaising with 2 Police forces and within an hour or so, the Police were led to my bike’s exact location… a garage 30 miles away. The garage owner said, “I have no idea how it got there!” That remains to be seen!
I am absolutely overjoyed that the bike was recovered, with very minimal damage. I am blown away by the product and service!’
