General Assembly opportunity to understand one Church, three expressions

One of the many traits that make the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) unique is the way we relate between congregation, region, general ministries and the General Assembly. You can learn more about these relationships at the 2015 General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Columbus, Ohio, July 18-22. It is at the assembly that representatives of our self-governed congregations (one expression of Church) learn what the self-governed general ministries are doing on their behalf. The assembly also offers accountability for those ministries. And those people gathered for the General Assembly can speak back to (not for) the congregations and the third expression, regions, with the items discussed during business sessions. All is done in covenant and mutual accountability, unlike more top-down structures. Beginning in late April, business items will be available to read on the website – ga.disciples.org – where you also can register online. (156 words including headline)
