  1. Discussion/action items
  1. Voluntary discontinuance and discontinuance plan forms (4 attachments): The revisions to AP 4020 include some changes to how voluntary discontinuances are handled. Attached are AP 4020, the old program improvement form, a draftnew voluntary discontinuance form, and a draft revised discontinuance plan form: The current program review form in TracDat allows a department to indicate if they want to discontinue their own program. After some discussion, it was decided that any departments wanting to discontinue a degree should simply fill out the program review form. Area faculty can us the PR form in TracDat to file a voluntary discontinuance, even if they are not on cycle to do a formal program review. Doing it through TracDat would answer all the questions deemed necessary. Area faculty would still have to do a Program Discontinuance Plan, which is required under AP 4020, which would answer questions about the impact of the discontinuance upon students, etc. BAITS has several programs which are being recommended by the faculty for voluntary discontinuance. We’ll use these to test out how this will work in TracDat with the new form.
  1. Gearing up for this term’s program reviews: Review of what programs the PRC will consider this year, further discussion of the process:

These were checked in TracDat. Unless otherwise noted, all are ready for review. The GS/US degrees are awaiting some data from Research; hopefully we can do at least one of these this spring. The others are all good. Everything on the list above should be completed by mid-fall semester when the next round will be begin. Again, our work will be very much like a second pilot.

Frank showed committee members what a completed PR now looks like, using the Music AA degree as an example. What the PRC requested for program reviews is on the Fall 2016 update page; it builds on the PRs we’ve been using since 2012. Besides the update page, there is additional informationon SLOs, PLOs, etc. The total report, when put into one PDF, is 123 pages long. Frank will send this to PRC members and they will review it. For the next PRC meeting, we will look at a draft evaluation and hopefully make a recommendation.

  1. Other: Our accreditation site visit will happen in the fall. The committee reviewed the history of program reviews at Shasta. Our current system is built on the system we’ve been using since 2012, and area planning is part of this system. We can expect to be asked by the site visit team about our program review process, and we should also be able and ready to communicate it to our constituents.
