National Energy Marketers Association’ s Conference and Policy Development Meeting in Washington, DC on April 17

Washington – The National Energy Marketers Association’s (NEM) Spring Conference and Industry Policy Development meeting will be held at the Marriott, Metro Center in Washington DC on April 17 and 18. DOE Secretary Bill Richardson, FERC Commissioner Massey, New Jersey BPU President Herbert Tate, Florida PSC Commissioner and Chair of NARUC’s Electricity Committee Susan Clark and Pennsylvania PUC Chairman John Quain will deliver major addresses over the course of the two-day event.

Industry leaders including Keith Butler, COO of Duke Solutions, Phillip O’Connor, President of New Energy, and Brian Watt, President of Columbia Energy Services will discuss how to provide energy customers better services and prices for energy and related technologies. Mike Foley, President of UtiliPro, Cary Bullock, President of Excelergy, Tom Ulry, President of Energy.com, Dennis Shepherd, General Manager of Itron, Robert Obeiter, EVP of InSITE Services, and Kim Zentz, President of Avista Labs will discuss new energy technologies and distributed generation. Elliot Boardman, Executive Director of AESP, Jeff Bandman, Senior VP and General Counsel of Prebon Energy, Bernie Bilski, President of WeatherWise, Neal Wolkoff, Executive VP, NY Mercantile Exchange and Joel Gilbert, President of Apogee Interactive will discuss energy risk management and load profiling.

Richard J. Pierce, Lyle T. Alverson Professor of Law, at GW Law School will discuss whether the state action defense to antitrust law is still applicable given that competition is in the public interest. PeterG.Esposito, Vice President, Dynegy CorporationBarryGreen,Manager, US Regulatory Affairs, and D. Patrick McNeil, Vice President, Ontario Power Generation will discuss RTOs, ITSCs, TLRs and LMP.

Chris Bernard, General Counsel of Entergy Trading and Marking will review the NEM-EEI Standard Wholesale Power Contract, Philip VanHorne Niagara Mohawk Energy Marketing President will discuss Uniform Codes of Conduct and Exelon VP, Scott Brown will review the current state of the industry efforts to reach consensus on Uniform Business Practices. NEM Policy and Advocacy Chairs Mac McCay, William Hoatson, George Phillips, Karen O’Neill and Mike Meath will be reviewing natural gas and electricity restructuring developments nationwide.

Members of the industry are invited to participate in an open Executive and Policy Development meeting starting at 1PM, April 18th. Topics will include GISB, restructuring tax policy, where title to electricity passes and income allocation from interstate energy sales.
