ABASection of Labor Employment Law Outreach to Law Students
The ABA Section of Labor Employment Law has sponsors a program that brings the Section’s most knowledgeable members into ABA accredited law schools to discuss the career opportunities and special dimensions of this legal specialty. Since the program began in March 2001, panels of experienced practitioners representing a variety of perspectives on labor and employment law have shared real-life experiences and information during one-hour lunchtime programs at law schools throughout the country.

“Two Section goals drive our interest in this program,” said Steve Gordon, the programs founder and ABA Section of Labor and Employment and Past Section Chair. “First, we want to attract new people into this area of law and into the Section. Additionally, we believe labor and employment law is an exciting area that offers important career opportunities as well as fulfilling experiences through which lawyers can make important contributions.”
The program will provide law students the occasion to meet with leading lawyers in the field of labor and employment law, and to learn about resources available to them if they are interested in pursuing careers in this specialty area.

The ABA Section of Labor Employment Law has more than 25,000 members who work in all aspects of the legal specialty. By design, many Section initiatives and committees are co-chaired by lawyers representing management, union, plaintiff and neutral interests.
