News from the Media Center

Book Checkout- The last day for students to check out media books for the school year will be May 25th. Please encourage your student to return any books he or she may have out so they can check out new books before the end of the school year.

Overdue Notices- Students with overdue media books should have received a notice this week. If your student received a notice please help him or her to look for the items. While there is no fine for books that are returned past due, books that are lost do need to be paid for prior to the end of the school year.

May is Celebrating America Month

Celebrating America Summer Adventure Passport Program

Celebrating America is a history initiative created by the Board of County Commissioners to promote a greater understanding of American history and historically significant people, events, and places, particularly those within Carroll County. Celebrating America, in coordination with community partners, encourages the citizens of Carroll County to visit and engage its rich history by focusing on events and ceremonies held throughout the county in the month of May.

May 19 & 20 is Celebrating America Weekend the launch of the annual Celebrating America Summer Adventure Program. The Celebrating America Summer Adventure Program is designed for 1st through 9th grade students. It gives family and friends the opportunity to see many of the wonderful sites and events around Carroll County and learn our rich local history. The rules are as simple as:

1)Visit 8 eligible locations from the Summer Adventure Program Guide from May 20, 2017 through September 24, 2017.

2)Snap a photo at each location.

3) Present photos to any Carroll County Public Library.

4)Attend the Ice Cream Social in October to win amazing prizes!

Like us on Facebook – updated daily with local stories and events, as well as national and local history, and some amazing photographs! The Celebrating America Webpage, , has links to the May 2017 events flyer, the Celebrating America Weekend flyer, the Summer Adventure Passport Program Guide, and everything Celebrating America!

If you would like additional hard copies of the Program Guide, please contact the Commissioner’s Office at 410-386-2043.
