NEW SOUTH AUSTRALIAN MOTOR SPORT BOARD

CHIEF EXECUTIVE APPOINTED

Mr. Mark Warren has been named as Chief Executive of the South Australian Motor Sport Board.

Announcing the appointment today, Deputy Premier Kevin Foley said he was ”excited to have Mark Warren confirmed in the pivotal role as Chief Executive”.

“Mark comes to the position with a wealth of business experience and success and I’m sure he will make a significant contribution to the Clipsal 500 Adelaide and the other events managed by the South Australian Motor Sport Board - the World Solar and World Eco Challenges.”, Mr Foley said.

The Clipsal 500 Adelaide is the nation’s largest domestic motor sport event, South Australia’s largest ticketed sporting event, and has set the benchmark for other events both nationally and internationally, having won a wealth of awards.

The World Solar Challenge and World Eco Challenge events are also both landmark events, particularly as we look to the cars of the future, environmental challenges, and alternative automotive energy solutions.

Commenting on the appointment South Australian Motor Sport Board Chairman, Mr. Roger Cook said: ‘Mark has, I believe, the vision and the practical “hands-on” approach that is required when you are leading the type of business we are in’.

Speaking today Mr. Warren said that he was “looking forward to the challenges of leading the team that has been responsible for staging events at the highest possible standard”.

‘The events business is an interesting mix, especially with our diverse and passionate fans of both the motorsport and off-track entertainment. It is very competitive and complex in regard to the engineering, operational, and marketing requirements.

It is also a very high profile business and of course the Clipsal 500 Adelaide delivers highly significant economic and promotional benefits to South Australia. It’s a great challenge’, he said.

Mr. Warren comes to the position with more than 20 years experience in a range of senior and business development roles in the Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) sector.

He leaves a position as State General Manager for Optus in South Australia and holds a Bachelor of Engineering. Mr. Warren will take up his new appointment mid-way through next month in advance of the 2011 Clipsal 500 Adelaide to be held from March 17- 20.
