Updates for G Suite and Office 365

New learning tools and functionsare enabled in the department’s G Suite for Education and Office 365 environments.

Tools enabled for staff and students

Google Sites (new)

The new Google Sites are now available to all students. Students can now also create and share contemporary, responsive websites using this tool.

Google Keep

Record multi-media content, to do lists and set reminders with Google Keep. This flexible note taking web and mobile device app could be used to record evidence of learning on the go. This is Google’s alternative to OneNote. It looks deceptively simple but has powerful organisational functions.

FeedBurner

Connect your audience to your content with FeedBurner. Create custom RSS feeds and analyse traffic with this web publishing resource.

Fusion Tables

Gather, connect, share and visualise data sets with Fusion Tables. For more information access Fusion Tables Help and the Fusion Tables Example Gallery.

Google Chrome Sync

Synchronise your Chrome experience when you sign in. Settings for bookmarks, history, passwords and other features are the same across devices using your department account.

Mobile Test Tools

Evaluate website compatibility for mobile devices with the Mobile-Friendly Test Tool.

Docs.Com

Docs.com is a Microsoft tool that connects with your Office 365 account. Using Docs.com you can curate and publish documents and files within your OneDrive and share with students, other teachers or the wider community. Use it to discover and share learning resources with students and other educators. Great for e-portfolios and organising content online.

Chrome Web Store

Use the Chrome Web Store to connect games, themes, apps and extensionsto improve your experience when using Chrome.

Google Play Store

Use the Google Play Storeto connect Android apps, media and devices to your department account.

Google Translator Toolkit

Share and collaborate to improve on your translations with the Google Translator Toolkit.TheToolkitbuilds on Google Translate, which has some limitations, for example, with idioms.

Tips

When signing in to Google applications on a mobile device use @education.nsw.gov.au not @det.nsw.edu.au after your username.

Always check the data sharing agreement when connecting third party resources to your account.
