New look community safety website
Residents will now find it easier to find online information about work to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in East Sussex following a website revamp.
The website - - which gives information about how organisations in the county are helping to keep residents safe in their local area, has been improved by the East Sussex Safer Communities Partnership.
The aim is to make it easier for residents to find out about who is involved in making the county safer, and what is being done to improve community safety.
Giving information to residents
The site includes information about how residents can also get involved in helping to make their communities safer, and points out the key topics the Partnership will be tackling in 2010. In addition, there is also a ‘help and advice’ area so anyone can find out more about where to go if they, or someone they know, has a problem with drugs or alcohol, or if they have been suffering from domestic violence or hate crime.
Plain English Internet Crystal Mark
The Safe in East Sussex website has been awarded a ‘Plain English Internet Crystal Mark’ which shows the Partnership aims to provide clear and concise information which is free from gobbledygook and jargon.
Councillor Bob Tidy, Lead Member for Community Services at East Sussex County Council, praised the website upgrade: “It’s going to be a useful tool for the Partnership as we will be able to share information and hopefully build confidence in our communities as residents will find it easier to understand who we are and what we do. Gaining the Plain English Crystal Mark is also a real bonus.
“Every district and borough in East Sussex is safer than it was last year - there have been fewer crimes and more people caught for the offences they have committed, and by revamping this website we can share more information about the work we do to keep East Sussex safer”.
