This 90 minute free workshop is geared towards school psychologists with three years of experience or less. The presenter will review pertinent case law in the area of special education. Additionally, the presenter will identify potential causes of conflict with parents and appropriate techniques for preventing it and addressing it when it does occur. The presenter will also review strategies for communicating effectively with parents via e-mail, telephone, and in-person conferences.

Program Director: Thomas Massarelli, Ph.D

Dr. Patrick O’Halloran is a school psychologist for the Watchung Hills Regional High School District. Dr. O’Halloran is certified as a teacher of psychology, school psychologist, supervisor, principal, and chief school administrator. He has presented several times for the National Association of School Psychologists, the New Jersey Association of School Psychologists, and the New Jersey Education Association. He also recently published a monograph entitled “Special Education Due Process Hearings: Exploring Factors.”
