New Education Ecosystem,thefocus of the Moscow International Education Fair 2017

On 12-15 April 2017, at VDNH, the Moscow International Education Fair (MIEF) organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation will be held for the fourth time. This year’sfocus is the New Education Ecosystem. TheMIEFwill becomea map of educational industries with individual navigation for all participants: best practices, developments, products and services of the professional and business community will be presented both in the Programand on the exhibition space.

The leading Russian and international educational and scientific organisations, representatives of federal and regional ministries and departments, heads and specialists of pre-school, general,vocational secondary, higher and supplementary education institutions from Moscow, Russian regions and the international community, as well as students and their parents will participate in the Fair. Over 1,000 experts and 400 exhibitors have been invited to take part in theMIEF; 60,000 visitors areexpected to attend the 75thVDNH Pavilion during the Fair.

The Chairman of the Program Committee of the Moscow International Education Fair, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Veniamin Kaganov,is confidentthat “this year, the Fair will become a place to make serious decisions, a venue for new discoveries in education and a platform for the development of education in Russia and in the world.”

In 2017, the goal of professional dialogue at the Fair is to build a new education ecosystem using the analysis and study of interrelations inside each cluster of the education system. Participants of the MIEF Program will discuss how to build the interaction between educational institutions, business, government, nonprofit organizations, parent communities, teachers and students. In accordance with the Fair Concept, both the Program and the exhibition space will be divided into several key clusters: “Preschool Education”, “Secondary Education”, “Vocational Secondary Education”, “Higher Education”, “SpecialEducation Needs”, “Lifelong Learning”, “StatePolicy”, and “Supplementary Education.”

The Fair program is developed with regard to the interests of professional communities and groups included in the education process. The new approach to developing the MIEF program implies the creation of thematic units and individual navigational routes for representatives of each professional community. Organisation of interaction between communities on the platform of the Fair will reinforce the horizontal connections and become a resource for their development outside theMIEF.

“The Fair provides opportunities for each of the communities thatform the education ecosystem,” saysMaksim Kazarnovsky, Director of MIEF Executive Directorate. “The Fair is a ‘living organism’sensitive to all processes that are occurring in education in Russia and in the world.”

MIEF-2017 will host up to one thousand discussions and practical events for representatives of the professional community: teachers, instructional designers, heads of educational institutions including those specialising in special needseducation. The Fair programwill traditionally includespecial projects:advanced training(once completed,the participants will receivecertificates),the Saturday educational program for parents and children, a severalvocational guidance events for high school students(graduateswill be able to take part in meetings with representatives of the best Russian and international universities,to test their knowledge and professional interests and to obtain consultations from teachers and psychologists),the special project for summer educational holidays “Fifth Quarter”, the National Youth in Science and Engineering Competition and the special project “International Education” that will tell participants aboutabroad study opportunities.

TheMIEFAdvisory Board, whose representatives participate in the creation of the Program, include the President ofthe Didacta Association Wassilios Fthenakis,the President of the Paris Federation ofthe French Education League Jean-Marc Roirant,the Director of the Centre for Socio-Economic Development of School of the Institute for Development of Education of the National Research University Higher School of Economics Sergey Kosaretsky,the Deputy Principal for Development of the Far Eastern Federal University Dmitry Zemtsov,the Deputy Director General for Education of the International Children’s CenterArtek Yuri Eelmaa,the Head of the Directorate of Educational Programs of the Department of Culture of the city of Moscow Ekaterina Kalachikova,the President of the Institute of Mobile Educational Systems Alexander Kondakov and other experts.

2017 will become the year for expansion of the international interaction at the Fair: 30 exhibition member states, 50 foreign delegations, 35 foreign ministers of education, and 100 international experts are expected totake part in the MIEF events. The DidactaAssociation,the French Education League and the European Exhibition for Innovative Education Technology BETT have already confirmed their interest in cooperation on the platform of the Fair. The UNESCO Forum of Ministers will also take place within the framework of the Fair.

The exhibition space of the Moscow International Education Fair is Russia’s largest platform for presenting advanced technologies, infrastructural and intellectual solutions for education. This year, the exhibition areawill increaseup to25 thousand square metres. The leading MIEF exhibitors include Russian and international educational and scientific organisations, largest employers and partner companies manufacturing training and technical facilities, creating software and providing various services in the field of education.
