New Consideration Standard For The Following Squads.

Due to swimming standards improving in all the squads the consideration standards have had to be changed. This change is essential to producing top quality swimmers in all the Squads.

Performance

  • Swimmers with a AAA Grade time on 100m events and above will be the first swimmers selected into the squad at the appropriate age if they pass the entry set.
  • The second selections will be the swimmers who have achieved the 5% away from the AAA Graded time, and have also achieved an A graded time on the 200 or 400 medley or if the swimmer is ranked in the top 3 In Wales for their age in 100m events and above.Age at 31st December.
  • Long course times will take priority.
  • If squad numbers are low, the head coach may select swimmers with a AA Graded time.
  • A minimum number of 30 completed training sessions per month will apply in this squad, and training ability will also be looked at.
  • A test set of 8 x 200 alternating free /medley on 3.10/3.25 will have to be achieved.
  • Link to Performance
  • The minimum standard for the Link to Performance squad will be a AA graded times in 100 events and above. Age at 31st December.
  • Swimmers must be a minimum of 11 for a female and 12 for a male at the age the swimmer is at the 31st December. The maximum age to enter the link is 14 at 31stDecember.
  • Long course times will take priority
  • Minimum number of sessions will apply in this squad and training ability is also looked at.
  • A test set will also have to be achieved.
  • After the relevant Grades are achieved, the Head Coach will decide on the swimmers who he thinks are ready to potentially go into the Performance Squad.

Competitive skills Tuesday in Maesteg session

  • The minimum standard for the squad will be 2 A graded times in 100 events and above. Age at 31st December.
  • It will be compulsory to attend the Saturday Morning session
  • Long course times will take priority
  • Swimmers should be currently being a high attendee of sessions.
  • Assistance coach discretion may be implemented if a swimmer is close to the relevant standard they require and is currently a high attendance swimmer, who has a great work ethic.

Competitive Skills

  • The minimum standard for the Competitive Skills squad will be an A graded time or 5 B Times in 100metre events and above. Age at 31stDecember. From February 2015,one of the B graded times must be a 200 or 400 Medley swim
  • Current swimmers who are 14 years of age as of the 31st December will require an A time in a 100m event and above to stay in the squad.
  • When swimmers hit their 15THBirthday, they will have to achieve the Performance Criteria.
  • Swimmers with the correct standard will be accessed by the assistant coach to see if they are ready for the extra training.
  • Saturday morning sessions are compulsory
  • Minimum number of sessions per month will apply in this squad and training ability is also looked at.
  • A Test set will have to be achieved for entry into the squad.
  • Minimum age for the squad is 9 at the 31st December, but they must achieve the 10 years graded times and achieve the test set.
  • Swimmers already in the squad may be moved to another squad if they do not achieve the minimum standard to access the squad.

Link 1 to Competitive Skills

  • The minimum standard for the link 1 to Competitive Skills squad will be one A graded time or 5 B Times in 100metre events and above. Age at 31st December.
  • Minimum number of sessions will apply in this squad and training ability is also looked at.
  • A Test set will have to be achieved for entry into the squad to see if the swimmer is ready for the harder work ahead.
  • Not all swimmers will automatically access this link if they achieve the relevant standard, as they must have a high attendance and be of a certain training standard.
  • Link 2 to Competitive Skills
  • The minimum standard for the link 2 to Competitive Skills squad will be4B Times in 100metre events and above. Age at 31st December.
  • Minimum number of sessions will apply in this squad and training ability is also looked at.
  • Development coaches views are considered in who is ready for the next step out of Development.
