From the 1940's, it was owned by Guilliamo (Bill) Monopoli who was appointed the official Italian Consul. The villa was remodelled with a European influence and became the offical Italian Consulate. He was also president of the Italian Club for 30 years. Bill, originally an orchardist was an interesting character who loved gardening, fishing and dabbled in a little wine making. He toldthe story to his family of treasure buried in the basement, but for all the searching nothing but tall tales have emerged!
