New Cargobull Trailer Center in St. Petersburg
Schmitz Cargobull now located in the Sotrans Group logistics park
Horstmar, March 2012 – Schmitz Cargobull is opening a new Cargobull Trailer Center in Krasny Bor, approximately 25 km away from St Petersburg. It is the first in the Russian Federation.
A state-of-the-art commercial vehicle and logistics park has been constructed directly on European route E105, which connects St Petersburg with the capital, Moscow. The project was initiated by the Sotrans Group, which has made a name for itself as the leading service provider in Russia's commercial vehicle and logistics branch. Sotrans and Schmitz Cargobull have maintained a close business relationship for a number of years.
The opening ceremony for the logistics park, which will also be home to the Cargobull Trailer Centre, took place on 2nd March 2012. The President of Sotrans, Alexander Bronovsky, along with numerous guests attended the opening. During his speech to the Sales Director, Andreas Schmitz, highlighted the favourable location of the logistics park and emphasised the enormous potential of the Eastern European states for the commercial vehicle branch.
Following the collapse in 2009 and 2010, the markets in Eastern Europe and Russia have recovered once again. As a result, Schmitz Cargobull achieved an increase in turnover to approximately 5,000 units in the 2011 business year - almost 10 times as many as in the crisis year of 2009. Experts forecast that the demand for trailers in Eastern Europe will continue its positive development.

Schmitz Cargobull will expand the new Trailer Center into a representative office in St Petersburg. In addition to new vehicle consultation, sales and delivery, its range of services will include a used vehicle depot (Cargobull Trailer Store) along with an authorised Schmitz Cargobull Service Partner. Thanks to the Trailer Centre's location in an optimal competitive environment, the commercial vehicle specialist from Germany aims to consolidate and expand its leading position in the Russian market.
