Network Services Senior Analyst

JOB TITLE / CCSN NETWORK analyst
REPORTING TO / TSU Manager

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

The CT TSU team is responsible for the Regions Peak and CCSN infrastructure including the provision of all covert product– all of which are required to deliver and support National operations and other agencies operations
This team manages, and has responsibility for, the deployment, security, capability, availability, and performance of the following key areas:
• Support the management application for the police CT network, to be the point of contact for collaborative asset deployment and reduce the risk of operational compromises.
• Provide the point of contact to enable different partner asset management systems to interact with this system.
• Sharing technical device deployment data (via the radio device management system) to help partners co-ordinate deployment activity efficiently.
• To enable surveillance product originating from one partners asset to be received in another partners operations room for display and/or subsequent storage
. • Revise or develop procedure and policy for approval and contribute to their successful implementation in order to deliver appropriate benefits and ensure external (e.g. legislative) requirements are met.
• Provide a consistent approach to security accreditation and effective and efficient audit and accountability for the system.
• Report on matters relating to functional projects managed using management techniques, to support informed decision making
• Provide and disseminate specialist/technical advice on issues relating to the department, interpreting or assessing customer needs and exercising judgment to make decisions when solutions are not obvious.
• Ensure technology is maintained, serviced, and repaired as required.
• Providing Support to the CTPOR as required
• Provide business assurance
• To carry out general administrative duties relating to the system as required.
The post holder will work within the TSU Team
This position will require the ability to apply and consolidate specialist technical systems skills and knowledge across their team.
The post holder will be responsible for providing expert advice regarding CCSN within the scope of their teams, developing new processes and technology to support the Force and continuously improving existing people, processes, and technology.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

·  The provision of network services to include the maintenance and development of policy, systems and procedures, performance management, together with the efficient and effective use of resources.
·  Provide specialist technical skills and knowledge that facilitate the security, integrity, and availability of the Peak Network
·  Provide specialist technical skills and knowledge that facilitate the security, availability, and performance of the Peak/CCSN Network
·  Provide specialist technical skills and knowledge that facilitate the security, availability, and performance of the Force’s firewall and gateway technology.
·  Assist with the monitoring and management of the performance of third party suppliers.
·  Provide specialist input towards the creation and maintenance of overall network plans to support the CTU business strategy.
·  Manage incidents and service requests to meet the needs of the CSC and make best used of the resources available.
·  Take the lead on relevant incident, configuration, availability, capacity, continuity and release management in line with the CCSN framework
·  Minimise the impact of work undertaken on users
·  Champion good ideas to management
·  Provide an escalation route for issues
·  To represent the CTU at local, regional and national conferences.
·  Have regular contact with various people within the CTU and externally in order to achieve desirable outcomes.
·  Provide reports and comprehensive working papers including making recommendations for improvements or amendments to systems within the team.

Will be expected to liaise with and negotiate with national agencies and companies

SPAN OF CONTROL

Knowledge
An extensive knowledge of Network infrastructure
Knowledge of national standards and legislation regarding network and/or Airwave technology
Understanding of ITIL and change management processes
Knowledge of Health and Safety issues relevant to the post
Skills
An IT related qualification ideally at a Degree level, or demonstrable specialist skills in in an IT environment
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently interact and empathise with all levels of staff.
Excellent presentation skills
Flexibility to use a variety of supporting technologies and to be innovative,
The ability to work under pressure and be capable of balancing competing demands and priorities.
Good communication skills in order to work effectively throughout the organisation and with external contractors and suppliers.
An understanding of the ITIL processes as they apply to the team and to the department as a whole
Ability to produce management reports, policy documents and comprehensive working papers including recommendations and implementation of documents.

An IT related qualification ideally at a Degree level, or demonstrable specialist skills in in an IT environment
CCNP,CCIE
ITIL Foundation certificate of demonstrable skills that the ITIL principles are understood in the context of the role.
Special Circumstances
The post holder must be able to work from alternate locations as the need arises.
The post holder may be required to provide ‘out of hours’ availability for which the appropriate allowance will be paid.
The post holder may be expected to work outside normal working hours for the appropriate payment and travel to locations within the UK
