1. Storm Control
a. The broadcast storm control now expanded to support rate control to multicast and unknown unicast packet control at interface level as well as global level
b. The storm control rate can be specified in percentage of the interface line rate.
2. CLI Enhancements
a. Add “clear ip route” command to allow users to clear dynamic learned routes.
b. Add “clear mac-addr-table” command to allow users to clear dynamic learned MAC address
c. Add “range” option in interface configuration level such that all interface attributes can be applied to a range of interfaces in a single command.
d. “Show running-config” now will stop at a page full of outputs.
e. Guest (non-admin) user now can access all the same show status as admin via the “>” prompt mode.
f. Add field in “show interface switchport” command to indicate packets forwarded by the CPU.
g. Add “show mbuf” command to show TCP/IP stack buffer usage
h. Add “clear logging buffered” command
i. The “show logging buffered” output displays the most recent messages first
3. Add DHCP option 82 remote circuit ID support
4. Increase the number of static ARP entry from 64 to 256
5. FSM7352PS: Change POE maximum threshold from default value of 80% to 100%
6. Support gigabit fixed speed mode (manual mode) for SFP fiber port
Issues Fixed in This Release
1. Sometime the port-channel does not come up after reboot
2. Factory burn-in MAC address shown incorrectly on the web GUI
3. Switch might accept the wrong operating image
4. IP interface status web GUI page is missing
5. Certain ACL configuration might cause the switch to crash
6. DHCP server option limited to 127
7. VLAN web GUI page status page missing field
8. Show spanning tree CLI command shows badly formed MAC address
9. Cut and paste of admin password does not work over telnet session
10. Outbound telnet echoed console input twice when connected to a Linux host
Known Issues
1. Switch might lost routes learned from Cisco switch after long run traffic stress test
2. Firmware downloading speed via TFTP is slower than previous version
Upgrade procedure
1. Start a tftp server on the PC where the firmware image is stored. Change the root directory of the tftp server to the folder where the firmware image is stored. If you do not have a tftp server, you may want to try either of the following public domain tftp servers:
Solarwind - http://support.solarwinds.net/updates/New-customerFree.cfm
PumpKIN - http://kin.klever.net/pumpkin/
2. On the switch console, type the following command:
a. # config
b. (Config)# stack
c. (Config-stack)# archive download-sw tftp://<tftp server IP address>/./<image name>
d. It will ask for confirm with input data displayed. Hit enter if all parameters look correct.
e. The download should take a minute or two, after that, the code will be checked for possible corruption, if not, it will report firmware successfully upgraded.
f. Do not power off the switch until the upgrade is done. Otherwise, the switch may not boot up anymore.
g. Reboot the switch by typing “reload” command or power cycle the switch.
3. After the switch is restarted, type the following command to verify the version is “4.0.7.1”
