Dear friends of The Little Prince,

we thank you for your continued interest in our foreign language editions of Le Petit Prince. All of them have been received with great enthusiasm by collectors of Le Petit Prince and speakers of the respective languages alike. As you know, the issuing of such translations in minority languages is hardly possible without support. Once again, we would like to express our deep appreciation to those of you who so generously supported the publication.

Today, we are pleased to let you know that we are planning further editions, which we hope to publish later this year.

1.  Welsh: Y Tywysog Bach (translator: Llinos Dafis; this is a revised version of the translation originally published in 1973, out of print for over 30 years). Fortunately, the "Welsh Books Council" has given us a grant so we do not have to ask for any additional support from you. You can order the book in advance for the "normal price" of 15.00 EUR (plus shipping and handling) per copy.

In addition, we are planning five more editions in small endangered languages. For these we hope to find sponsors among the friends and collectors of The Little Prince. Will we, once again, find enough collectors to subscribe to these editions at a price of EUR 50.00 per copy in order to make their publication possible? We hope so. Several of you have already assured us of their support. Many thanks! All subscribers will receive one of the few numbered copies and their names will be listed as sponsors.

2.  Drents: ’t klejne printsie (translator: Abel Darwinkel); Drents is a language/dialect in the Northeast of the Netherlands.

3.  Älvdalian: Lisslprinsn (translator: Bo Westling); Älvdalian is an archaic Scandinavian language/dialect in central Sweden.

4.  Aromunian: Njiclu Prints (translators: Thede Kahl & Maria Bara); Aromunian, also known as Aromanian or Macedo-Romanian, is a Romance language spoken in SE Europe, related to Romanian.

5.  Ladino: El Princhipito (translator: Avner Perez); Ladino is also known as Judeo-Spanish. The book will contain the text in both the Hebrew and the Latin alphabets, pictures will be in the Hebrew script section. This will make the book somewhat more expensive.

6.  Pashto: Kočnay Shahzada (translator: Abdul Bari); Pashto (or Pashtu) is spoken in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The text will be printed in the Pashto variety of the Arabic alphabet.

As last year, we will venture publishing these titles in limited editions if we succeed in obtaining at least 30 such advance orders.

If this meets with your interest, we would ask you to fill out the form below and return it to us as soon as possible by mail, fax or email. You need not send us any money now.

We would, however, like to mention that no collector should in any way feel pressured into participating in the advance subscription of the books. Participation is a totally volunteer matter for those among you who would like to especially sponsor these editions. Anyone is welcome to order the books at their normal retail price, which we expect to be 15.00 EUR (the Ladino version somewhat higher). In any case, we would love to hear from you soon so we can go ahead with the planning.

Cordially,

Dr. Walter Sauer
