Attending the Conference offers two ways to earn the Professional Development Units (PDUs) you need for licensure. You can earn one semester graduate credit from the University of Dayton or up to 2.5 PDU’s certified through OAEA. To decide what is the best approach for you consider the following:
University of Dayton graduate credit
Education professionals working toward a master’s degree, or a master’s +30, may want to attend all two and a half days of the conference and then register their time with the University of Dayton to receive college credit. UD offers one semester credit to OAEA members for $175.00. If you are interested in receiving credit, check out the OAEA website under Professional Development to find the pdf of the college registration form. Simply follow the instructions provided. Bring the form to the registration area during the conference for certification on Saturday, November 16 from 10:30 – 12noon. After the conference, the University of Dayton will contact registered members for payment.
OAEA PDUs
Most educators need PDUs to renew or upgrade their licenses. To apply for OAEA Standard Professional Development Units go to the OAEA website under Professional Development and look for Earning PDUs. OAEA will certify up to 2.5 PDUs for full conference attendees and one PDU if you are a workshop presenter (one PDU per workshop regardless of the number of times repeated). Print the form from the website and bring the completed form to the registration area for certification on Thursday or Friday, November 14/15 from 4 – 5pm or on Saturday, November 16 from 10:30 to 12noon.

One-on-Ones
From past class evaluations, we have found that flexibility works best for our student participants and sometimes classes are not available when you want to take them. If this is the case, One-on-Ones are for you! It gives you a chance to work independently with one of our skilled artist-printmakers to learn intaglio, relief, screen printing, letterpress, digital or alternative techniques.
Please contact for a roster of artist-print specialists and we will connect you. We charge $35 per hour-($10 for Zygote and $25 for teachers)-some classes take just a few hours –some take a little longer. This is a great way to learn as you go so you can begin utilizing our Open Studio sessions or commence renting a locker or studio.
$25 per hour for teacher + $10 per hour for Zygote.

In Oberlin, at the college, and all across the region, the school year has begun and even the students are starting to get back into the swing of things!
Here at the museum, we are looking ahead to a very exciting year full of exhibitions, programs, and school visits from area K-12 private, public, home school, and scout groups. All of the temporary exhibitions on display this year explore the theme of "Realism." Spanning from the early 19th century up to the present day, these shows see artists exploring the world around them. Whether through direct observation, depicting accessible subjects, or portraying social truths, artists in the exhibition "Regarding Realism" sought an aesthetic that was true to life. The modern works on view sought more to filter their subject matter through their own particular style or aesthetic.
From social studies to science, the fine arts to current events, the works on view throughout the exhibition provide a wealth of material that can support your curriculum. Visits by school-age groups to the museum always strive to develop students visual literacy and critical thinking skills, and can view works through cultural contexts, as conceptual frameworks, as primary source documents, or as a creative focal point. Additionally, we provide a wealth of materials online for educators (
If you are interested in bringing your school group in for a tour of the museum, I would be happy to work with you to schedule a visit and work to integrate the collection into your classroom studies. Please don't hesitate to contact me at (440) 775-8671, or by email at .
How to Schedule a Tour:
A minimum of two weeks advance notice is required to schedule a tour.
Tours are usually 45 minutes to 1 hour long, depending on the age group.
There is no charge for tours.
Classroom Resource Sheets
Thanks to the generous support of the Ohio Arts Council, the AMAM has developed classroom resource sheets based on twenty works from the museum’s permanent art collection. For every work, you will find a visual analysis, background on the work’s function, its cultural and historical importance, an artist biography, and a list of possible vocabulary words. Additionally, each resource sheet lists the Ohio Academic Content Standards and their K-12 Benchmarks met by the study of each work and its related classroom activities. We have also developed ideas for curriculum connections in each of the major subject areas. It is our hope not only that some of these connections might be used in your classroom, but also that they are used as a ‘jumping off point’ for the creative integration of works from our collection into your lesson plans. Sheets are available online under the “education” tab on the web site,
