NDIAN GRAIN STORAGE MANAGEMENT & RESEARCH INSTITUTE

IGMRI was established in the year 1958 for Research & Development (R&D) and capacity building in the field of Post-Harvest Management of Foodgrains at Hapur (UP). Two more field stations were established at Ludhiana (Punjab) & Hyderabad (AP) with the financial assistance from UNDP in 1968 to cover the requirements of these two agro-climatic zones.

The services provided by IGMRI include:

1.Imparting training to personnel from various organizations viz. FCI, CWC, SWCs, Civil Supplies Corporations and private sector etc.

2.Collection and analysis of foodgrain samples for physical parameters, pesticidal residues and mycotoxin contamination and preparation of reports and recommendations for improved storage practices.

3.Undertaking need-based R&D activities for scientific and safe storage of foodgrain.

Vision, Mission & Objectives

Vision:

Contribute to food security by suggesting/devising methods of safe storage of foodgrains and adequate availability of skilled manpower for the same.

Mission:

 Creation of skilled manpower on scientific storage of foodgrains to preserve its quality and minimise losses.

Safe and scientific storage of foodgrain.

Objectives:

To impart institutional training on quality control, pest control, scientific storage practices, preservation and inspection of foodgrains.

To recommend code of practices for scientific storage of foodgrains.

To assess quality of foodgrains stored by the Government / Agencies at various levels to make recommendations for improved storage practices.

Create awareness about safe storage of foodgrains.

Activities performed by IGMRI:

Conducting training programme for personnel from various organizations viz. FCI, CWC, SWCs, Civil Supplies Corporations etc and private organisations. Annually following trainings are conducted:

Testing of new products/ machinery and need-based R&D activities for scientific and safe storage of foodgrain.

Stakeholders:

Govt. & semi-Govt. organizations engaged in the storage & distribution of foodgrains such as: FCI, CWC, SWCs and Civil Supplies Corporations.

Private/Public sector agencies dealing with warehousing business.

Private entrepreneurs dealing in manufacturing / marketing of pesticides and pest controlmanagement.

Commitment :

IGMRI is committed for assessing quality of foodgrain by collecting and analysing the samples for various parameters and by providing quality training to the staff deputed for training to the Institute, with a view to create skilled manpower on scientific storage of foodgrains with these agencies, so as to preserve the foodgrains stored in good condition and to minimise losses during this entire process from procurement to distribution.

Code of conduct:

IGMRI staff is controlled by the code of conduct of the Civil Service Rules & Regulations laid down by the Govt. of India. We request all our stakeholders to report us, if anything contrary to the general expectations from a Govt. official or some inappropriate behaviour comes to their notice.

Service standards:

IGMRI takes utmost care in responding to the queries raised by our stakeholders within 21 days of the receipt of their communication.
