1. The Appointment
The NCS Programme officer will form part of the Cross College Student Support Team. As the NCS programme officer you will support the college NCS contract, including residential phases.
The NCS Programme officer will establish and progress key relationships with both internal and external departments and agencies for the benefit of the College’s NCS programme. To be part of a year round recruitment campaign and implementation strategy for young people, supporting key areas of the programme including residential phases.
The ideal candidate will be flexible and adaptable with experience of providing administrative support and should possess excellent IT and communication skills. You should have experience of project management and working with and supporting young people.
You will be educated to degree level and have an appropriate qualification to at least Level 2 in both Maths and English.
Ideally a driving licence and use of your own vehicle are essential for the role, or access to independent means of transport is required for this post.
Ideally we are looking to recruit for two part time vacancies; both working 15 hours per week. During the period 26th June 2017 to 25th August 2017 when the summer programme will be running candidates will increase to 4 days per week and will reduce back to 2 days per week with effect from 28th August 2017.
Candidates will be required to be flexible with their working days and unless under exceptional circumstances annual leave is not able to be used when the programme in running over the summer months.
The working pattern will be reviewed following the Summer 2017 programme.

2. The Post
2.1Main Duties and Responsibilities
a)To plan, Implement and help Co-ordinate the National Citizen Service (NCS) project whilst also leading on the residential and social action elements of the project.
b)To cooperate with the NCS regional partner in all aspects of programming planning and delivery.
c)To support in the recruitment and training of appropriate staff and volunteers to deliver the programme, including a group of youth volunteers to act as Ambassadors for the NCS programme.
d)To liaise with parents, participants, curriculum staff and external partners on the NCS programme.
e)To support the wider delivery staff on programme and training and development and assist and develop staff while out on programme.
f)To help book all necessary venues, activities and arrange other resources needed – for example residential, transportation and equipment.
g)On Phase 2 work with partners to plan, organise and procure the logistical aspects of programme delivery.
h)Engage with local volunteer centres, community groups and charities for social action project opportunities and work towards securing additional funding and support for the social activity weeks and graduation events.
i)Working with organisations to bring additional opportunities to young people engaging in the College’s NCS delivery programmes.
j)To attend related networks, meetings and NCS events, supporting partnership and sharing good practice.
k)To liaise with a range of key stakeholders such as schools and parents to ensure effective engagement and participation in NCS.
l)To support the marketing and promotion of the NCS related activities.
m)To achieve recruitment and retention targets in line with the contractual requirements from the NCS Trust and monitor retention throughout the programme.
n)To undertake project evaluation and monitoring as required.
o)To provide office and administration support for the NCS programme, including adhering to processes and procedures in place and the production of management information and other information as requested.
p)To support the team with an efficient data entry support service, ensuring data is entered accurately, efficiently and in a timely fashion.
q)To keep up to date filing systems, data records relating to health projects.

2.2Other Responsibilities
a)To uphold and promote College policies and procedures, promoting those specifically applicable to this area of work, including the Equality & Diversity and Health & Safety policies and procedures and attend training as requested.
b)To comply with the college’s own safeguarding policy and practices and attend training as requested.
c)To keep up to date, so far as necessary, for the efficient executing of the job, with new legislation, procedures and techniques and attend relevant mandatory training.
d)To be conversant with and participate in activities and developments at college, regional and national level which are relevant to the post.
e)To present and promote an appropriate public image in representing the college.
f)To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required commensurate with the post.

4. Position within the College
The post-holder will be part of the student experience team and will report to the NCS Programme Manager.
5. Terms & Conditions
a)The post is offered on a Vision Business Support Service Fixed Term contract.
b)The salary will be £21,554 per annum (pro rata for period of fixed term and part time).
c)You will be required to work 15 hours per week on a flexible basis. During the period 26th June 2017 to 25th August 2017 when the summer programme will be running candidates will increase to 4 days per week and will reduce back to 2 days per week with effect from 28th August 2017.
d)You will be entitled to 25 days leave, plus bank holidays (pro rata for fixed term and part time)
e)The college operates a Scottish Widows Group Personal Pension Plan.
f) The post holder may be located at any West Nottinghamshire College Site and may be expected to travel as required. You will however be given reasonable notice of any change in your principal place of work and be fully consulted.
