POST TITLE: Work Experience Co- Coordinator
EFFECTIVE DATE: November 2017
SALARY: Support staff salary points 20-24 (£17,443- £19,577)pro rata
HOURS: 20 hours per week, term time only

NBAll staff will be required to work flexibly during the enrolment period.

  1. GENERAL:

The post holder will be responsible to the Careers Advisor and play an active part in ensuring that the College’s shared outcomes as follows are achieved:

  • Students enrol
  • Students achieve
  • Students remain on full, enjoyable and challenging programmes
  • Students aim high and progress

General Conditions:

The post is subject to the Conditions of Service Handbook for Support Staff in former Sixth Form Colleges as adopted and subsequently amended by the Corporation.

  1. JOB PURPOSE:
  • As part of the Careers Team, play an active part in the delivery of a responsive and successful administrative provision (in accordance with the College mission).
  • To promote and protect the College’s reputation within the College itself and within the wider community.
  1. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • To be the overall champion for work related learning support and administration (including trips to Higher Education establishments), acting as the main point of contact for students, parents, employers and staff in relation to queries, referrals and advice;
  • Building effective working relationships with local and regional employers, linking with appropriate staff within the company /developing a strong network of work placement opportunities;
  • Managing the administration of Work placements between students and employers, liaising with course tutors and maintaining effective and accurate records;
  • Liaising with Curriculum managers and their teaching teams to ascertain the work placement schedule over the academic year for each course;
  • To prioritise caseload as appropriate;
  • Meeting on a 1:1 with students to explore their work experience requirements/interests, referring to the Careers Adviser where necessary
  • Liaising with students regarding expectations of employers during work placements;
  • Liaising with employers and monitoring of work placement visits, acting as a point of contact between the College and employers;
  • Liaising with the Premises Manager to ensure that work placements comply with current Health and Safety requirements, including managing the vetting of placements;
  • Managing the student and employer work placement satisfaction surveys, reporting this back to the Careers Advisor;
  • To deal with telephone enquiries, distribution of mail, correspondence and liaison between internal and external parties as appropriate.
  • To attend meetings and provide minutes where required;
  • At the direction of the Careers Advisor, to assist with cross college events and activities (e.g. Open Evenings, Parents evenings, UCAS admin, Careers events, Taster days etc).
  • To play an active part in enrolment and pre-enrolment as required, including data entry.
  1. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • To maintain a high level of awareness of the principles of safeguarding and child protection as they apply to vulnerable groups.
  • To understand the duties and responsibilities arising from College policies and procedures relating to Safeguarding and Child Protection.
  • To maintain an appropriate working environment in accordance with the College’s Health and Safety Procedure.
  • To participate in the Staff Appraisal system, attending training sessions as appropriate.
  • Such other duties as may reasonably be allocated within the purview of the post by the Principal or Deputy Principal.
