The aim of this course is to introduce students to nature conservation policy in European Union countries and as in case model - Lithuania. Module includes development of nature conservation policy, institutional capacities and actors in policy making, implementation of conservation policy, assessment and enforcement of policy, nature conservation policy and use of natural resources, governance and management of protected areas as well as nature conservation and climate change. The course will also consider integration of nature conservation aspect in development sectors: agriculture, fishery, forestry, transport, tourism, etc.

The course is designed as a broad overview of nature conservation policy and its implementation in regional development. The module is structured that nature conservation is regarded as instrument forregional development. By the end of course the students will have better understanding of European Union nature conservation policy as well of Lithuanian.
