3. Project Purpose – Problem: The creek system supports a wild run of steelhead trout which is federally listed as threatened
in central CA; the creek has been listed as sediment impaired under section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act, requiring
establishment of a TMDL. The sediment listing is driven by implied degradation of habitat for steelhead trout and other
threatened species.
4. Project Goals: To conduct specific analysis of the Creek Watershed that will be used to develop a Sediment Reduction
Plan that prioritizes erosion control and sediment reduction measures to be implemented throughout the watershed.
a. Short-term Goals: Historical & Existing Conditions analysis;exisiting management practices review; sediment analysis.
b. Long-term Goals: Create a Sediment reduction plan with recommendations for improving existing practices,
filling gaps, and prioritize potential high sediment productions sites for erosion control measures.
5. Project Location: San Francisquito Creek Watershed;border line between Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties;
