WORK HISTORY

2007 Translator

Recent assignments include: engineering specifications, technical business tenders, civil engineering, software documentation, installation manuals, TV show script, medical/hospital records, commercial real estate evaluations, tanker storage, marketing brochures, speeches, and websites. Brian first began translatingin 1985 while working as a computer programmer and analyst for Shell in Rijswijk. Subject areas: seismic processing, computational techniques, programming, etc. While studying at U.C. Berkeley, (1989-92) he translated thesis work for Dutch graduate students. Subject area: computing. While working for Oracle as a technical writer, he translated programming manuals (1994-95).

2005 Writer / Producer

Brian started Vincentio Films in 2005. Partnering with Jay Truesdale, a Chapmen University graduate with a masters degree in cinematography, Brian produced two feature movies, seventeen short films, three music videos, and numerous commercial and industrial videos. He directed many of these projects, and wrote and adapted numerous scripts.

2002 Communications / Writer

In 2002, Brian returned to school to study psychology at C. S. U. Sacramento. During his studies, he taught English as a foreign language, worked in a locked psychiatric facility, managed and taught reading in after-school reading programs, worked for Kaiser Permanente as an actor within their communications program, and managed marketing and promotion events. He also appeared in local commercials, on stage, in independent films, worked as crew on independent films, and wrote several film scripts.

1989 Technical Writer/ Business Analyst

Brian obtained a degree in Literature from U. C. Berkeley after emigrating with his family from Holland to California. During his studies, he started and ran a technical recruitment company. In 1992, he was hired by Oracle as a technical writer and within two years was sent to Holland to run a documentation department. He returned to California to teach technical writing, and was promoted to technical analyst in the customer support department to manage special projects with blue chip customers, such as, Cisco, Sequent, and so on. From 2000, Brian spent three years as a business analyst writing suitability reports on the use of computer services in the private and public sectors.

1975 Computer Programmer

In 1975, Brian began workingas a computer operator on IBM mainframes. He moved into computer programming and became co-owner of a software business at the age of twenty-three, which he ran until headhunted into consulting work as a business analyst and programmer.
