Five Volunteer Hours Due Date for First Semester: Wednesday January 18th, 2017
Please give serious consideration as to how you will carry out this aspect of our club membership. Discuss with your parents ways that you might be able to help others. Any service you provide should be meaningful and important. Your service should be strictly volunteer work; you should receive no compensation, other than the satisfaction of having helped others. There are suggestions provided below, but you should make an effort to think of your own ideas on how to help others.
Volunteer Service Hours Ideas and Opportunities:
- Walking, working, or riding for charity
- Cleaning up parks
- Make treats for a local senior home
- Writeletters to service men/women. You must research a company/address to mail these letters.
- Put together a care-package for service men/women.You must research a company/address to mail these packages.
- Form a litter patrol on school or park ground.
- Complete Yard Work for an elderly/sick neighbor.
- Collect Pennies for Preservation for Collierville
- Help neighbors by walking pets. Walk dogs, collect mail, shovel snow, or rake leaves for someone in your neighborhood who needs the help.
- Decorate reusable grocery bags and fill them with their favorite non-perishable food items.Take to school or Collierville Food Pantry.
- Collect used towels and pet toys for the local animal shelter.
- Meals on Wheels opportunities are available through local churches. You will need to research this.
- Volunteer withRed Cross Youth Services through your local Red Cross branch. Make sure kids and parents take a CPR/first-aid course so everyone is ready to volunteer lifesaving services if necessary.
- Make treats and deliver them to your local police or fire station.

- Jingle Bell Ball Volunteer Opportunities
- Pennies for Preservation for Collierville – Collect pennies and bring them to Jr.Beta sponsors. Collierville’s Historic Preservation Program promotes the identification, education, rehabilitation, adaptive reuse, and restoration of the Town's historic, architectural, and archeological heritage.
Service Project Opportunities-
All participants will earn Jr.Beta volunteer hours by participating. Service Projects must be discussed and voted on by Jr. Beta Officers. The following are just suggestions and ideas already discussed in the first meeting. More information to come.
- Book Drive – Gently used or new books for elementary school students.
- Collierville Food Pantry – Supplying Christmas Hams for 70 families.
- Make A Wish: Stars For Wishes – The Stars For Wishes Campaign is a fundraising program used to support the granting of wishes for local children with life-threatening medical conditions. Our overall goal would be to grant a wish for a child by the end of the school year.
- Page Robbins Adult Day Care – Gift exchange for every senior citizen at the center.
