Fall 2013

The Office of Undergraduate and Graduate Fellowships provides advice and assistance to University of Nevada, Reno undergraduates, graduate students, and alum interested in applying for nationally competitive awards such as the Fulbright, Rhodes, Marshall, Goldwater, Truman, and Udall. The Office of Undergraduate Fellowships is housed in the University Honors Program office in the Jot Travis Building, Room 11A.Interested students should register through Appointment Scheduler:

Fall Fellowships Videoconference:July 31, 2013, 3 pm. Students interested in learning about the Rhodes, Marshall, Mitchell, Gates-Cambridge, and Fulbright should attend to learn about each of these fellowships.

General Fulbright Information session: Thursday, August 29, 2013, 2:15-3:45 pm, JCSU 422

Graduating seniors, graduate students, and students who are alum of the University of Nevada, Reno are encouraged to attend to learn more about the Fulbright and other national fellowships and scholarships.UNR campus deadline for 2014-2015 Fulbright Student Awards (us.fulbrightonline.org) is Monday, September 23, 2013 in JCSU Room 422.

UNR Campus Deadline for Rhodes, Marshall, Gates, and Mitchell applications: Tuesday, September 3, 2013, by 3 pm, Honors Program, Jot Travis: Applicants for these national fellowships must submit hard copies of their applications including the essays and letters of recommendations in sealed envelopes to the Honors Program by this date and time to be considered for university nomination. Interviews will begin the following week.

Fellowship Writing Workshop #1:Friday, September 13, 2013, 3-5 pm, Honors Program, Jot Travis:Students planning to apply for a Fulbright (or other national fellowships) this fall are required to bring a draft of their Personal Statement and Proposed Program of Study to the workshop to share with faculty readers and other applicants.

Fellowship Writing Workshop #2:Thursday, September 19, 2013, 3-5 pm, Honors Program, Jot Travis: The Honors Program is available to review final revisions of essays of students submitting applications for the 2014-2015 Fulbright Student award (or other national fellowships).

UNR Campus Deadline for Fulbright:Monday, September 23, 2013, by 3 pm, Honors Program: Final submission: All students applying through the University of Nevada, Reno must submit their applications, including letters of recommendation, through the Embark online application system (Fulbright website) by this date to be considered for a campus interview. The UNR Fellowship Program Advisor will forward all UNR applications and campus evaluations directly to Fulbright by October 15, 2013. Campus interviews are required of all applicants.

Fulbright interviews begin the week of Monday, September 30, 2013, Honors Program, Jot Travis:After an applicant has submitted the Fulbright application online, a campus interview will be scheduled as required by the Fulbright Program.Following the interview, the applicant will have the opportunity to revise his/her application and essays before final submission.

Students interested in learning about national fellowships and scholarships including the Goldwater, Truman, Udall, Rhodes, and Marshall are encouraged to attend to learn about these merit-based fellowships and scholarships and the application process.
